  • Kenny Walker Jr
Kenny Walker Jr is a poet, lead spoken word vocal for the fusion band Straight Truth, long time comic book collector, a mobile disc jockey, and a father of seven. Kenny has been writing poetry since the age of 10. Some of his early influences have been Langston Hughes, William Sheakespeare, Nikki Giovanni, Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone, and Prince. Originally, Kenny would write for his own personal pleasure but in his mid 20 s he started attending open mic and sharing his work with the public. Kenny started hanging out at jazz clubs and mixing his spoken word style with various jazz musicians. Kenny would continue to read at open mic always expanding his talent. At time he would team with various musicians to create new sounds with his spoken word. Eventually, Kenny was instrumental in creating the fusion group Straight Truth, where he performs his spoken word accompanied with singers and a fusion sound of r&b, soul, jazz, funk, hip hop and even rock. Kenny has also been collecting and reading comic books since he was 10. Being consumed in the culture for over 35 years, Kenny has full knowledge of character history of mostly Marvel and DC published books. For the last 12 years, Kenny has been a mobile DJ. Being a talented club dancer, he met a DJ in a local club who had his own mobile DJ business. Kenny s DJ friend first asked him to assist with functions as a dancer, however, Kenny became interested in being DJ and quickly learned the ropes to do so. Now Kenny works on his own under his own company, Jamjock Entertainment DJ Services. Last but not least, Kenny is the father of seven ranging from 6 to 28. Some are step children and some are not but he loves them all the same with very interesting stories and parenting advise. Please enjoy his works.

  • Blake
Hello. My name is Blake Patawaran. I am currently a junior attending college in the Bay Area, not mentioning where, and majoring in English: Creative Writing. Why did I choose English: Creative Writing as a major? Quite simply I like writing poetry. Somewhere along my life I lost that total love of writing and found it even more difficult to express myself in other forms, be it learning new songs on the guitar or making a fool out of myself. However, now I am finding ways of awakening that creative flow by reading a lot more, spoken word poetry, or reading books by authors like Max Brooks and Philip K. Dick. You can thank my freshman English teacher for PKD, he really turned me to PKD after having read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (italicized I know). I want to learn how to write well and believe that I have a long way to go, but I want to keep it up because writing or expressive writing is something lost in young generations, my generation. Although, sometimes I feel that my generation is already lost and for generations to be better than mine, we must teach them. So hopefully in the future I could be an English teacher, but more specifically teach creative writing. Well that's my little quick, unorganized, rant about myself. Thank you for reading and have fun exploring my page.
