  • Dr Carol Langlois
I’m a trained counselor, researcher, higher education administrator of 16 years, educational consultant and soon to be author.  During my training, I counseled hundreds of clients in one-on-one sessions as well as in group settings where I worked mainly with college freshman dealing with transitional and developmental issues on campus.  My primary research focus is female self-esteem development among teens.  My dissertation topic “The effects of single gender versus coeducational environments on the self-esteem development and academic competence of high school females” focused on 15 year old girls in the Bay Area where my research findings showed disturbingly low levels of self-esteem across the board.  This staggering discovery has led me to further research this topic and write my first book called Girrl Up!  Full E-steem Ahead.  In addition, I run groups for non-profits interested in adding self-esteem training into their overall mission. In my last university postion, I serves as the Associate Provost and Dean at a prestigious all women's college in northern California. Presently, I host a blog (http://dr-carol.com) to offer practical advise and guidance on self-esteem issues as a tool for parents and teens. I also tweets articles, tips and blog posts related to self-esteem under the name SelfEsteemDean http://twitter.com/selfesteemdean.  I can also be found on Facebook https://facebook.com/selfesteemcoach and Linkedin http://www.linkedin/in/drcarol.
  • Mary Jill Sheffield
Born and raised in the south by 2 very talented and creative parents. My family was creative we painted and we did drawings, played dress up, lots of baking and decorating. When I was 7 we moved to Atlanta Georgia and at one point my mother opened her own beauty salon in the downstairs of our home. When we were not running the shop we liked to work on creative projects. I can remember hanging wall paper and doing upholstry with my mom. Saturday nights we would draw cartoons and listen to beatles music. In my early years of school teachers and students would stand around me to watch me draw and color. I liked to do a sort of surrealism which meant that I had to be in a certain frame of mind, almost like a trance to do the art. I was in a gifted art programs for most of my accademic years. In my later teens my family moved back to Jacksonville Florida were I was born. As an adult became marketing executive for a fortune 500 company.
  • Christina Botto
Let's face it - parenting teens is stressful and chaotic at times. After two years of struggling with her own teenager, arguments and disrespect became unacceptable to Christina Botto. Refusing to continue "business as usual" she set out to learn how to deal constructively with this age group. For the subsequent eight years, Botto began talking not only to her teenage daughter, but also to her daughter's friends as well as their parents. It did not take her long to realize that they all faced the same difficulties and obstacles '" parents as well as teens! Botto methodically refined her findings and results, and eventually became a sought-after mediator between parents and their teens. In the late 90's Botto applied these strategies as her youngest daughter went through her teenage years. What a difference! The techniques and extra effort paid excellent dividends in the form of a healthier, more supportive relationship with her youngest daughter. "My daughter enjoyed her freedom, and still respected the rules and boundaries I set," Christina says. "I was at her side when she turned from a girl to a young lady, enjoying and experiencing changes and accomplishments - and so can you!" Christina's proven strategies, comprised of more than 20 years of working with parents and their teenagers, are outlined in her book Help Me With My Teenager! A Step-by-Step Guide For Parents That Works. She has helped hundreds of parents who are struggling with the same issues she did, in person as well as through her web site and books. Christina has appeared in podcasts and has been featured in many newspapers and magazines.

I have long been focused on teens. As a mom who survived three of them and a veteran high school English and French teacher, I have many tidbits to share with other parents. I am a published writer and an ordained minister in the International Metaphysical Ministry and am working on a book, Letters to My Children, which is geared to the teen reader. It is an attempt to answer the life questions my own children asked while they were growing up. The children in my life are my greatest joy, and this includes my three children, my in-laws, my nine grand-children, and all of my former students. My goal is to help parents of teens today to not only cope with the various issues confronting them but to actually enjoy their teens while helping them successfully sprout their wings and fly.
