New York City's Police Commissioner Ray Kelly recently told a group of Young GOP'ers this January that no one from the Obama administration consulted with him prior the announcement that the trial for confessed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed would be held in lower Manhattan. However, according to remarks Attorney General Eric Holder made to the Senate Judiciary Committee on November 18, 2009, he had consulted with both Mayor Bloomberg and Commissioner Kelly already.

Thousands of lawyers and opposition political activists are beginning a four-day 'Long March' to demand an independent judiciary. It's feared the protest could destabilise President Asif Ali Zardari's government at a time when the nuclear-armed American ally faces severe problems from Islamist militants and an economic slump. Police detained hundreds of political activists on Wednesday, and banned public rallies. But the government has allowed the march, which set out from the cities of Karachi and Quetta, to go ahead.

Republican strategist Ralph Reed warns of the dangers of an Obama presidency combined with a Congress controlled by liberal extremists. He notes Obama would be able to easily stack the judiciary with judges and Supreme Court justices as far left as he wants. Reed also warns of massive tax increases and unprecedented spending plus a "cut and run" policy on fighting terrorism. He also mentions what he thinks Republicans should do to stop them.
