The PARKS & RECREATION Premiere Party brought out all the stars of the show: Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones and Aziz Ansari. We get in their face on the red carpet about who they play on this not-so-THE OFFICE-but-almost-kinda-spin-off.

From the executive producers of THE OFFICE, Aziz Ansari stars in PARKS & RECREATION alongside Amy Poehler. He's also in OBSERVE & REPORT, and up-coming comedy (go figure) FUNNY PEOPLE with Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen.

According to the Ecological Research & Development Group (ERDG), Horseshoe Crab Sanctuaries aren't government connected. And they're totally voluntary. Quality Parks plans to act as a liaison between ERDG and other interested parties, creating a cooperator's list of names and shared stories. Why are these Sanctuary programs needed? Gina Verg in, "Biologist Works to Restore Horseshoe Crab Populations," explains that there are four species threatened by coastal development, pollution, medical research, and fishing. For example, in Southeast Asia, according to the Nature Society (Singapore), "They get entangled as a by-catch in abandoned or deployed nets left by recreational/artisanal fisherman at inter-tidal areas." "I never see this kind of fish net entanglement," comments Mindy Block, who spends many hours on Long Island's beaches, both for recreation and conservation purposes. She hopes to bring awareness and additional actions to the plight of the horseshoe crab.

The first annual Villa Rica Balloon Festival is being held in Villa Rica, Georgia this weekend at the V-Plex in Villa Rica. Entry and parking is free, as are tethered balloon rides, The Braves Total Experience, face painting and more. Enjoy local bands playing live in the evening as you watch balloons sail through the sky. Each night the balloonists light their burners to make their balloons glow simultaneously. It's an amazing site and a fun, free activity for the Aug 7-8 weekend. Saturday there will be hot air balloon races and more free fun and activities for the entire family. This event is put on by the city of Villa Rica, coordinated by balloonist Tim Billingsly and Villa Rica Parks and Recreation director Courtney Powell.
