Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are two digestive disorders that are collectively known as inflammatory bowel syndrome. The complications of IBD range from diarrhea and abdominal pain to ulcers and colon cancer.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an umbrella term for a group of digestive disorders which includes ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. These conditions often cause diarrhea and abdominal pain, and may even lead to colon cancer.

What causes the polyps or tumors of colorectal cancer? We know that carcinogens play a role, as does a family history of cancer. Colon cancer is also linked to other digestive disorders, like ulcerative colitis.

Inflammatory bowel disease includes two conditions, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Symptoms include abdominal pain, cramping, fatigue and diarrhea. There is no cure for IBD, but medication and surgery can help control it.
