Craig Rubens over at NewTeeVee reports this morning that Next New Networks has made its first content acquisition deal in the purchase BarelyPolitical.com, the political satire site known mostly for the hit Obama Girl show. Star Amber Lee is pictured below. A couple of weeks back, I interviewed Tim Shey, co-founder of NNN. He told me how the network of niche video shows is expanding.

The first blockbuster web series has yet to be born, as Brian Stelter observed in his "New York Times" article Sunday, but there are plenty of content creators trying to change that. Santa Monica-based Generate launched the political satire web series "Republicrats" August 18 and will premiere the second season of dark comedy "Pink" September 16. I interviewed Peggy Mansfield, Senior Vice President of Integrated Sales at Generate, about the series in Manhattan last week.
