Subway Goes Outside the Box with a Breakfast Offering

This Could Be a Good Way to Protect Profits in This Horrible Recession that We Are Still In.

In the increasing fast food market share battle Subway has launched a breakfast offering in most stores throughout the country. They have previously had minor breakfast offerings in various markets going back to the late 1990's and maybe sooner. The thought is probably the breakfast offering combined with the popular $5 foot long special will make Subway much more competitive with its fast food rivals such as McDonald's. The already offer the most healthy food. The reality is that you probably also can get the most food for $5 at Subway.

As most people know breakfast is pretty simple and Subway is not going all out as of yet with pancakes, waffles and things like that. They are pretty much offering a variety of sandwiches that you can eat on the go. They are all made fresh while you watch just like their sandwiches we have grown to love. Right now they have five items on their breakfast menu. I am sure they will add to it as time and testing goes by. Some restaurants try breakfast and decide it is not worth it. I recall years ago like back in the 1980's Wendy's sold breakfast for very short while. The items are designed with healthy options available like an egg white instead of eggs and wheat muffins. There is an egg and cheese muffin, the Double Bacon and cheese muffin, a Steak, Egg, and Cheese, a Western Egg and cheese that comes on a muffin, and the Black Forrest ham, egg, and cheese. This is Subway's healthy version of McDonald's Egg McMuffin. All of these come standard on a wheat muffin, but you can have any bread you chose depending on location. The majority will let you have the muffin, six inch roll, or flatbread. I have tried them all. Since they are all cooked with the microwave, they are not the best breakfast that there is, but they are pretty good. The prices on Subway's breakfast sandwiches range from $1.75-2.25 for muffins and $4-7 for a foot long breakfast sub. You do get a good bit of food for the money there. Also if you are trying to watch your consumption of junk this is probably the healthiest option in fast food.
