Success in Beauty School in Pennsylvania

Beauty School. It's a right of passage, a hallmark milestone that takes you from beauty consumer to beautician, from the stylish to the stylist. For some, it's a time to maximize their potential and for others, it's a time of frustration as they struggle to learn new ideas. Regardless of your reason for being at beauty school, you can make the most of your time and sail through it successfully. Here are several strategies to help you succeed in beauty school in Pennsylvania.
Put it in perspective. Beauty school is a very small amount of time in the course of your life, yet it can make a big impact on your career. It's important to take it seriously and do your best, but also remember that you are in school and it's ok to make mistakes. That's how you learn. It's an exciting time because it will help you launch a new career, or at the least, help you discover things you do and don't enjoy.

Show up. Beauty School in Pennsylvania is a mere 1250 hours. That's just ten months full time, but everyday that you don't show up for school is a day longer that you have to keep going to school. Your best bet is just to make the best of it and go to school everyday, even if you don't feel like it. I can assure you, that when all your friends graduate and you are left behind, you are really not going to feel like going to school any more than when you first started. Attend special events and you may receive extra hours towards your graduation requirements. Do not miss any school unless you absolutely must so that you can graduate in a timely manner. Keep track of your hours so you know if you are staying on track to graduate when expected. Your school director can help you figure it out.
Find out what the expectations are and do everything you can to meet - or exceed- them. Different schools have different expectations of their students. Some schools require students to help with daily cleaning, other schools require students to meet certain beauty service quotas before they can graduate. Keep these in mind as you go to school each day to make sure that you can finish your expectations in time. Keep a careful track of your grades, test scores, and all of the services you perform on clients so that you can know if you are meeting those expectations.
Ask for help when you need it. The school wants you to succeed, otherwise they'll go out of business. Remember that the teachers are there because they want you to learn all their tricks and ideas. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you don't understand something or you nee help applying a service or product.
Study. Even thought most cosmetologists are artists, there is still some bookwork that needs to be accomplished. There are also tests and quizzes, anatomy, physiology, and a lot of other complicated information. If that is hard for you, make sure you spend enough time studying so that you are well prepared and can ease your way through the test. You will have to take a four hundred hour test to be allowed to work on real clients, a nine hundred hour test to become a senior student, and of course, when you graduate, you'll have to take the state boards so that you can become a licensed cosmetologist. Find out what will be on your tests and make sure you study it well. Flash cards are a great way to learn and remember those tricky skin and nail diseases, and make sure you can remember all the layers of the skin, too. Pair up with a partner to help you study.
Maintain a positive attitude. Just because it's beauty school doesn't mean that it will always be easy. Keeping a positive attitude with your teachers, your classmates, and your clients will go a long way towards getting done successfully. Sometimes you will be faced with tasks that you don't like, but a smile and cheerful attitude will help you accomplish them well.
Above all, try to enjoy your time in beauty school, as it only gets harder when you get out in the real world. Try to learn as much as you can and remember you will get out what you put into it. Do your best and you will sail through with flying colors.
