Success Takes More Than Courage

Overcoming the Things that Keep Us All from Going After Our Dreams!

Success takes courage!

Now what does that mean, you might say. Why in the heck would success take courage? It's not like you are going to be fighting a lion or something, right? It's not like you're a Gladiator in ancient Rome standing on the inside the doors that separate you from countless adversaries ready to take your life. Those would be reason to need courage. So why would "Success" in today's world take any amount of Courage?

Good Question. Today, there are many things working against a person creating success for themselves and the biggest one is "Fear" . Fear that your life will have to change in certain ways to obtain the success. Fear that the road to travel to get to where you want will be to uncomfortable and difficult. Fear of failure is a big one. Fear of failure can stop a person from doing the easy things in life that might catapult them to success. It does seem that society seems to be extremely intolerant of failure and that is what leads to so much fear of it. The reality is that Failure is a necessary part of achieving success. It is my opinion that if more people would accept that they are going to fail and not be afraid of it as if it is shameful or wrong then more people would go farther in life. Fear is an obstacle for many but not the only obstacle.

One thing I should mention is the definition of success, not the literal definition but the idea. Fact is success is different for everyone, but for most, success is having a lot of money or being free from the constraints of not having enough to do whatever you want. Some may think that if they hit the lottery that they would finally be successful because they would be free to do whatever they want. In this case they would be right, for at least a while anyway.

Today, comfort and Convenience rule. Everyone is looking for the most comfortable and convenient things to life easier. Because of this, there are those who would capitalize on this complacent market and for good reason. Because everyone is so used to comfort and convenience, they are not willing to put themselves in uncomfortable situations and push themselves to grow beyond their current "Comfort zones" so that they can achieve success. This is known as wussification. Yes, not a general term but it is used to describe people who are not ready to tackle the uncomfortable game of life, to get roughed up, thrown down in the dirt to capture their success with much deservedness.

It's simple really. You cannot gain success if you continue to do the things that you are comfortable with if the things you are comfortable with are not getting you success. Make sense?

So, success takes courage to overcome your fear and push yourself beyond the boundaries of your own comfort and complacency. To overcome those things that are holding you back from achieving your version of success and making your dreams come true, it will be required to become uncomfortable to expand and grow, to jump over that wall of convenience that so many are not willing to tread near.

So go out there and jump over that wall of convenience, run into your fears head on, Fail a few times and never quit heading in that direction because that is where the truly successful are and it is the road that the truly successful have to take to get what they want. Looking back over the rubble, obstacles, canyons, and mountains you have overcome to get where you will be, there is no question that you will be able to say to yourself, "I would do it all over again if I had to." Go Take Action!
