I had a chance to meet with a successful small business owner of a Non For-Profit Organization geared toward young women. The women who sit on this Board are: Patrice Patterson, President; Shana Robinson, Vice-President; Sherronda Booker, Director of Processing; and Brandie Dunagan, Director of Processing.
I spoke with Sherronda Booker; she holds the position of Director of Processing of The Black Angel Network also known as BAN. The BAN was established in 2007. Me: "Can I call you Sherronda"? Sherronda replied, "Yes you may". Me: "Can you please tell me more about the Black Angel Network"? Sherronda: "The Black Angel Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young women and girls of African descent". Me: "What drove you into this line of business"? Sherronda: We felt that there was a void, something missing from the lives of African American adolescent females. We wanted to be our sister's keeper and give those pointers that no one shared with us as we were growing up, that could have made a positive impact on our lives". Me: "How do you plan on attracting more young girls to the organizations"? Sherronda: "We plan on using innovative, inspiring techniques. We were just that age not too long ago, so it's fairly easy to relate". Me: "What are some of the things that the young girls can do to stay positive"? Sherronda: "Staying positive involves thinking positive! The young girls must remember to stay away from things that are negative. She has to realize that negativity will attract negativity".
The BAN has maintained their dedication and devotion to the community. They are looking for more young girls that would love to become a part of their community. The BAN is designed to effectively knowing the elements that will give them mentoring, love, care, and a place that they would feel comfortable to grow. The BAN network set up activities in the community that keeps them motivated and positive. This is a good successful business that will soon show in young women of the African culture. Sherronda Booker and her colleagues are continuing to be a successful small business owner while engaging in sisterly love to make a change in their communities.
