Successfully Audition for The Biggest Loser

Tips to Get You on Next Season

If you have tried dieting, you know that losing weight is much sweeter with incentive. How about $250, 000 for incentive? The Biggest Loser will even throw in professionals to coach you into healthier eating habits and proper fitness routines. All you have to do is audition. Treat the audition like a job interview. Look like a million dollars as you announce who you are and your hometown. Carry with you all the materials that outline what you will bring to the show. Include a recent photo of you (and your teammate if you are auditioning as a pair) plus a video that tells the story of your life with images. Focus on daily activities, hobbies, circle of friends, and everything that is unique about you. If you used to be a lot thinner, bring a photo to show what your "after" pic could look like. Keep in mind that all images and video of you may air on national TV if you are cast as a member.

Is it too good to be true? No. The Biggest Loser, NBC's answer to Celebrity Fit Club, is now auditioning for its 7th season. Hostess Alison Sweeney moderates periodic weigh-ins to determine who stays on the show and who goes home. The season finale recalls all cast members for an update on their weight-loss and to name a winner.

If you're like me, you are worried about keeping your bills caught up while you are away taping. Don't worry. The Biggest Loser pays a weekly stipend of $500 for you to spend as you please. Here are more tips for a strong audition. Who knows, maybe you and I will be contenders!

Watch the show. Don't dive in before you test the water! Watch previous episodes so you know how challenging the competition will be. If you are like me, you need to get more comfortable with a treadmill before you even think of auditioning!

Attend a casting call. The doors open in L.A. and the first 500 are guaranteed an audition. Be prompt. Treat the audition like a job interview.

Send in an audition video. If you are unable to travel to audition, you can send in a video. You will need to light up the video with all the energy and personal presence that you would put into a face-to-face audition.

Be beautiful. Make that camera love you. Look tailor made for TV with a new haircut, new outfit, and new shoes.

Be you. Do not try to put on airs. If you are eccentric, be eccentric. You don't have to be able to do cartwheels to show your enthusiasm-show it in your own way. What counts most is that you are dedicated and motivated!

Have a vision of a leaner you. Think about how a substantial weight-loss could impact your life. Be able to picture yourself leaner and healthier and the effect it would have on your daily activities. Make plans for the new you.

Be able to commit. Are you able to dedicate 8-9 months to this process? According to Name, a former cast member, taping lasts four months, and you must continue exercising and eating healthy for the finale which will be 4-5 months after taping ends.

Please visit NBC.com for an application, mailing address for the video, and specific dates and times for open casting calls.
