Sudden Death

Denise Larkin
When death came it was sudden and quick,

Which did not give us time to speak.

It leaves us all feeling shocked

To find out that our mother is no longer here.

We sit in silence

Thinking why this has happened.

We ask questions like

What went wrong?

Where are you now?

Are you okay?

These questions are never answered.

Instead tears come gradually

Because we cannot believe that you are gone

Leaving us here to carry on.

What will we do without you?

We ask ourselves.

It will be hard for a long time

Because we will never be able to phone you

And talk about things like we used to.

But we will never forget a mother like you

Who will stay in our hearts forever and forever

Until we meet again in a world that is heaven

Where we think you must be waiting for us

When our time has come to be there too.

I guess I could get used to this double spacing.... doesn't seem to hurt the flow of yours.... Hope it isn't damaging the reading of mine either!
