Many people just do not seem to particular care for the taste of turkey. Some feel that it comes out to dry or just does not have the right amount of flavor that they want. But it really depends on how you cook the turkey as to whether or not it will taste good and leave your guests wanting more. Following are a few ways that you can add a little flavor to your turkey.
1. Try barbecuing your turkey. It may sound a little strange to put a big old turkey out on the barbecue but it really does give it more flavor, and make it taste so good. If you are going to barbecue your turkey, make sure that you do it on a charcoal grill and not on a gas grill so that you can really get that outdoor smoky flavor.
2. Create your own turkey rub. There are dozens of meat rubs currently on the market, but why not mix your own. You can make a very simple rub that includes the following ingredients: onion powder, season salt, paprika, and garlic powder. Just mix them all together and you have got a great turkey rub. The portions of course will vary depending on how big your turkey is.
3. Try slow cooking your turkey. Many people have found that cooking turkey slowly on long heat for at least two hours helps to keep the flavor in and also keeps your turkey from drying out.
4. Always use a temperature gadget to make sure that your turkey's internal temperature is correct. This will help you to avoid over cooking the turkey, so that it becomes dried out.
5. Try fruit to season the turkey. You can make your turkey seasoning using fruit such as canned or fresh apples. Using canned apples (the baking kind) you can definitely save a lot of time, and give your turkey some amazing flavor.
6. Use fresh ingredients for your stuffing. When making the stuffing for your turkey, try using fresh ingredients, so that the flavor will be able to cook into your turkey. If your ingredients are not fresh then you will little or no flavor for your turkey.
7. Try marinating your turkey. Most people don't think it is possible to marinate a turkey but you really can. First you have to create a marinate that will give your turkey amazing flavor. You can visit the food network website at www.foodnetwork.com in order to get some great marinade recipes. You may need to purchase a large roasting bag so that you will be able to cover the entire turkey in the marinade and let it sit overnight. Then all you have to do in the morning is add your stuffing and get cooking.
These are just a few suggestions on how you can a little more flavor to your turkey. Don't be afraid to try new things. If there is a particular flavor that you want for your turkey try experimenting with different seasonings, and see what you get. If you are going to do some experimenting then you can try purchasing small deli slices of turkey for practicing. This way you can see how your turkey will taste with different seasonings added to it.
