Suggestions for a Good Birthday Party Game

Everyone loves a good birthday party game. One that is engaging, moves along at a good pace, and makes people laugh. We come to expect birthday party games, and look forward to something new at each party. No matter what your age is a good birthday party game can create the most memorable snapshots in our minds.

There are always many tried and true birthday party games from which to choose. A quick internet search will give you lots of them. It is important when trying to come up the perfect birthday party game to make it a good fit for your guests. There can be many factors to take into consideration such as; do you have to play indoors or can you go outside? What age group are they, does the birthday party fall on a holiday, what time of year is it? Considering these things can bring relevance to your birthday party game. You can even bring in current events to create a fun and unique game. If there is a big election on the horizon, have a game where you create skits imitating the politicians. On the other hand, if there is a new reality show that is all the rage, do some kind of takeoff of it. You can tailor a scavenger hunt to any theme and hold it in the smallest of spaces.

Do not forget prizes! This is a very important ingredient in a successful birthday party game. Prizes do not need to be elaborate or expensive. The joy of winning and being recognized is what you are after. They can be cheap plastic toys or even funny booby prizes you made yourself.

My favorite teen birthday party game was for my son's birthday, which falls on Halloween. Taking the holiday into account, we made a big tub of cold gloppy oatmeal and filled it full of plastic toy bugs, snakes, spiders and eyeballs. We covered the tub with a decorated box that had a hole cut into the top big enough to fit your hand down into the oatmeal. You then had to fish around find one of the prizes and guess what it was. If you guessed correctly, you were able to keep it! I could not believe how many kids enjoyed sticking their arms down in that box, risking the mess of cold oatmeal just to fish out those prizes! We all laughed and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was easy, inexpensive and lots of fun.

Everyone loves a good birthday party game, and as the host of the party, you should enjoy it too!
