Suicide: Is it the Last Only Left Solution?
Is This the Option that Victims Choose by Force or Choice?
I, for some unknown reasons under the sun, feel, why would someone intend to end his or her life . Is that the last resort of one's miseries? Obviously not, but have we really thought what ordeal the victim goes through before the drastic decision is executed, and leaves the family and society thinking.... But Why???
# Taking a leaf out of Linda Armstrong's life the brave mom, who with the courage and efforts and Jim Wallace's (Scottish Justice Minister) support got the Scottish Sexual Offences Act 2002 modified. The act is now for the victims and not against. Hat's of to the Linda Armstrong.
It's only when we believe we can make a difference, We can.
Ref : Readers Digest Feb'08 Issue : Lindsay's suicide made the brave Scotswoman think.
July 16 '2002 was the day when she discovered that her daughter had taken the decision to end her life and took in a massive dose of antidepressants. There was no suicide note, but Linda knew that her daughter could not carry on with this anymore. It had already been Ten months.
Now what had happened with Lindsay need not be told, but what needs to be thought about is " Lets come together and contribute to the cause in whatever small way we can".
Linda Armstrong and her husband Frank in April 2003 created a support group after her daughter's name ,"Lindsay Armstrong Support Group". The society is ran by volunteers and she along with the noble souls man the helpline giving support and advice to victims of sex crimes and their families. She along with other volunteers answers the ringing calls in and out 24hrs raising funds. Thanks to the helpline opened in 2005 that has by now helped over 100 callers. Linda understands the pain, but we need to understand that do we really need to go through the pain to understand what it feels like.
Linda just want to say, All the people reading this are with you, Frank and Lindsay. May God Bless all.
# Some more terrifying data, According to an article published in a website that says in last three years 16,000 students committed suicide in India. Now that calculates to more then one every day. This data is as on May 02, 2008. As per the ministry, 5,857 students committed suicide in 2006 and the figure for 2005 was 5,138. Similarly, in 2004, 5,610 students committed suicide.
With such a figure that's shocking and alarming, I feel that day is not far when you could see people walking by your side carrying a signboard that shall read "Handle with Care".
# Now what can be more insulting than this.
A woman attempted suicide in Ahmedabad court of Law. The 24 yr old victim is a canteen contractor in Saijpur-Bogha. The woman had filed a rape case against the Doctor Narendra Sanghavi, who had earlier confronted her and asked her to leave.
Due to the prolonged case and the mental pressure she had been going through she finally decided to call it Quits. She was immediately rushed to VS Hospital when she consumed poison in Gheekanta court premises. Where she was treated.
A news published on Times Of India website (Dated : 16 'Feb 2010)
The World is a beautiful place to be in, only when we realize how much people around us love and care for us, and we leave them behind in tears.
So lets not end our life, Lets start start it new and with undying courage.
