Sultry Saturday Forecast for Ferndale Library Event

Michael Thompson
Ferndale's weather forecast for Saturday, June 26, is warm and humid, with daytime high temperatures in the middle 80s and scattered thundershowers. Folks who want to take a break and beat the heat may consider attending "The Big Peek" for a first look at the new, $5 million Ferndale Public Library, 222 East Nine Mile Road.

The event is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and tickets are $40, but get this: Anyone who who buys a one-year $30 membership with Friends of the Ferndale Library receives a free ticket. Sounds like the membership is the way to go. Plus, members can then buy additional tickets for $10 apiece, so if you're on a date, that's $40 for the two of you. If you're a senior citizen and/or a full-time student, your membership is only $15.

Ferndale's forecast is for muggy weather to continue into Sunday, but early next week, daytime highs will max out in the 70s. Friends of the Ferndale Library will host a review of "I Am Not Sidney Poitier," a novel by Percival Everett, at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, at the temporary facility at 642 East Nine Mile. But with moderate temperatures, the event won't be in the heat of the night.

I bet that was a fun event. Sounds like an awesome library.
