Scottsdale 6 Drive In Movie Theater
Nearby Scottsdale is home to a six-screen drive-in movie theater just like the ones that were popular decades ago. Tune in to the sound through your vehicle's radio and watch the magic unfold on an enormous outdoor movie screen. They should single pictures as well as double-features, and Tuesdays are family nights with reduced prices for all visitors.
Best of all, you don't have to sit in your car if it isn't your ideal movie-watching environment. Outdoor movies at the drive-in can also be enjoyed from the tailgate of your pick-up or from lawn chairs you bring to the facility. Just keep in mind that you should have cash in your wallet because credit cards are not accepted at the Scottsdale location.
WaterDance Film Festival
The WaterDance Film Festival is held summer 2011 through the beginning of June. Outdoor movies are free watch, though there are raffles during each event to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Movies include Descpicable Me, Twilight: Eclipse, and Iron Man 2.
All you need to bring with you for outdoor movies at WaterDance is enough chairs for your whole family. You can also bring blankets and food if you want to hunker down under the stars. Just keep in mind that this is an extremely popular event, so you might want to arrive early to claim your patch of grass. Movies start at 7:30 p.m.
Biltmore Fashion Park
As summer fades into fall, Biltmore Fashion Park" in Phoenix kicks off its Movies in the Park series at Saks Fifth Avenue. Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to view movies ranging from romantic comedies to animated children's films. Sometimes more than 1,000 Phoenix residents show up for the festivities.
Movies in the Park are held every spring and fall at Biltmore Fashion Park. Dogs are allowed to join in with their families, but alcoholic beverages and glass bottles are not permitted. If you get hungry after the movie, you can treat your family to a meal after the movie is over.
