Summer Activities in DFW Area of North Texas

You find yourself in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas during the summer looking for some activities. What do you do? Here are a few suggestions.

For younger ages, there are zoos like the Dallas and Ft. Worth Zoos in Texas. The Dallas Zoo can be reached on Dart from Downtown Dallas, Texas if you take the red Westmoreland light rail. The Dallas Zoo has a petting zoo with pony rides at certain times of the day, goats you can go in the fence to feed with food from a dispenser for some change. And there are other small animals such as rabbits in the petting zoo. There is a little water area that children can wade in before you get to the petting zoo close to the gift shop and restrooms.

There are museums in Dallas such as the Natural History museum and the Science Place at Fair Park. In downtown Dallas there is the Dallas World Aquarium which when you start at the top of the three floors is an amazing rain forest that you walk through down below where there's a tunnel you can sit in and watch sharks swim above you.

Summer time is also a time for movies. But what if you could feel yourself part of the movie and feel yourself move as the screen moves. In the IMAX theater, the curved screen and tilted seats make you feel like you are actually flying when they introduce the movies with a tour of Dallas by helicopter.

Then there are the amusement theme parks such as Six Flags over Texas, and Hurricane Harbor in the Arlington area of DFW. There are other water parks in DFW as well such as Nrh20, and Hawaiian Falls.

Dallas and Ft. Worth, Texas, also have nice places just to take a stroll in such as the Dallas Arboretum and the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens. Part of what makes the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens so attractive is the Japanese Water Gardens. Fair Park also has a discovery garden center. A nice place to walk and gather a bit of history near downtown Dallas, Texas is Old City Park.

In Grand Prairie, Texas there is the Palace of Wax to walk through and feel like you are face to face with celebrities and it also has a combo ticket you can buy to see the Ripley's Believe it or Not part.

Don't forget the Dallas Art Museum. They have a children's area, they have exhibits with tours guided by headsets you can purchase to borrow with your ticket to look at whatever current exhibit is featured, as well as the rest of the lovely art.

For the music experience, there are concerts at the Meyerson Symphony center in Downtown Dallas. As well as summer musicals at Fair Park in Dallas.

These are just a few ideas for summer activities in Dallas/Ft. Worth if you are ever in DFW and looking for something to do in the summer. I hope it inspires many creative day trips for you.
