Summer Activities for the Whole Family

Angel Sharum
Summer is coming, and we are all looking forward to getting outside and enjoying the sunny weather. A great way to do this is with outdoor sports and games. It's not just for kids, either; everyone can benefit from some outdoor exercise. Family time has never been this much fun! Pick from any of the following, and you are sure to have fun and get your heart pumping!

1. Get together a softball game. Find other family members and neighbors, get the ball gloves, ball, and bats together, and have fun. This is a great activity for all ages.

2. Volley ball is another way to enjoy a summer day. Almost anyone can do it. If you have small children just make sure to set the net low enough that they can hit the ball over it.

3. If you don't want to play a whole game of softball, just play catch. This is a great alternative for younger children. To get the heart rate up, make sure to throw the ball different directions, instead of straight at them, so the other person has to run to catch it.

4. You can also play a game of touch football. The girls can even play this type of football! Its fun for everyone and you will get lots of exercise running for the goal.

5. Playing tag is a great way to enjoy an afternoon with your kid's. They'll love this one because you probably won't be able to keep up with them!

6. A great summer past time is playing frisbee. You can even get the family dog involved in this one.

7. Badminton is another great outdoor activity for summer time. It will not only get your heart rate up, but will put your dexterity skills to the test.

8. Play a game of basketball. For younger children playing horse would be fun. Horse is a game in which a person stands at a certain spot and shoots the ball. If he makes the shot, the next person has to stand in the same exact spot and shoot. If you miss you get a letter in the word horse, and when you spell out the whole word you lose. To up the exercise benefit take turns running after the ball when someone misses a shot.

All of these activities are great for most everyone, and offer plenty of opportunity for exercise. . Having fun and being healthy go hand in hand with all of these games and sports; so get your tennis shoes out, put your shorts on, don't forget the sunscreen, and have fun!

I know what you mean. Just think, when we were younger we wouldn't have thought twice about doing any of them!

Great activities. After all this, I'd need a nap. :)
