Summer Activity Books to Bridge Your Child to the Next Grade Level

Ryanick Paige
Summer activity books are a great way to keep your child learning and get them ready for their next grade level. Over the summer children often do not think about school or practice things they had learned throughout the year. It is possible that they will lose an entire grade level worth of knowledge and learning. These books are designed to help children retain the information they have already learned and will help them get ready for the following school year.

Summer Bridge Activities

The Summer Bridge Activity books have four series of workbooks that will help your child move seamlessly between grades. Each series, Summer Bridge Activities, Summer Bridge Activities for Young Christians, Summer Bridge Math, and Summer Bridge Reading are designed to fit the needs of children for each appropriate grade level. Summer Bridge Activities is the most versatile and covers Reading, Writing, Math, and Language Skills while then Summer Bridge Activities for Young Christians are designed to teach the same skills as the go hand in hand with the bible.

Daily Summer Activities

The Daily Summer Activities workbooks offer children lessons in Math, Reading, Language, Spelling, Writing, Geography, and more, depending on what subjects are needed for the appropriate grade levels. These colorful and engaging books have a two page section for each week day and covers ten weeks of summer activities. The Daily Summer Activities workbook covers summer learning from preschool until fifth grade.

Flash Kids Summer Skills Daily Activity

The Flash Kids Summer Skills Daily Activity workbooks alternate between Math and Reading on a 90-day format. To bridge between the grade levels, the first part of the workbook covers lessons from the previous grade and the second part covers things that will be learned the upcoming school year. Puzzles, mazes, and word finds help keep the learning fun and entertaining for the kids.

Each Summer Activity book series mentioned above can be purchased online or at various book stores around the country. Normally I would not be a fan of summer education due to the lack of physical playtimes our children get. However, due to the requirements of today's educational system, just a few minutes of summer school activities a day will keep their minds fresh and continually learning and thinking throughout the summer. Even just a few days a week can help you child be a step ahead for his or her next grade level.
