With this year's 2009 NBA Playoffs drawing extraordinary TV ratings,this summer, basketball courts should see a heightned increase with many young players looking to become the next NBA superstars Lebron James and Kobe Bryant. For basketball players in the Metro Atlanta area looking to improve on their fundamentals and get to the NBA or WNBA one day, there are lots of summer basketball camps that they can attend to get this type of training from professional and college basketball players and coaches alike. Here are a few:

Advantage Basketball Camp

The Advantage summer basketball camp focuses on giving a behind-the scenes look at what it really takes to play professional basketball at the NBA and other professional levels alike. At the Advantage summer Basketball Camp, young aspiring basketball players, girls and boys from ages 8 to 18, learn tricks of the trade but are taught necessary grunt work habits by NBA and WNBA players coaches.

Rated by Sports Illustrated as the #2 summer basketball camp in the nation, this summer basketball camp puts young basketball players through continous drills that may seem boring but, once mastered, strengthen their basketball IQ. On the first day, in particular, attendees may dribble basketballs for the entire day. In regards to shooting skills, attendees will learn the importance of proper footwork before they ever take a jump shot.

Paul Hewitt Summer Basketball School

Head Georgia Tech Men's Basketball coach Paul Hewitt hosts his annual summer basketball camp for high school basketball players looking to improve their fundamental game and, at the same time, hopefully catch the eye of Hewitt and other college basketball coaches likewise. This summer basketball camp features teachings from Hewitt along with current and former Georgia Tech basketball players and coaches.

This summer basketball camp gives young high school basketball players opportunities for competitive league play to showcase learned skills from individual basketball drlls. The Hewitt summer camp features an small coach-to-player ratio so attendees have a great chance to recieve personal attention from professional NBA players. Awards will be given to high achieving participants at the end of this summer baskeball camp.

High school basketball players have two opportunities to attend this summer basketball camp. The first summer basketball camp session takes place on June 15 through 18 and the second on June 29 through July 2. The fee for this summer basketball camp is $275 per participant.

Tony Ingle Summer Basketball Camp

The Tony Ingle summer basketball camp is a great basketball camp for young players looking to get league summer basketball play. This summer basketball camp does not offer the NBA pedigree teaching, however, attendees recieve fundamental attention and play competitive basketball games against some the top high school basketball players in Georgia.

Tony Ingle, the all time and Division II National Champion winning head basketball coach of Kennesaw State University, leads this summer basketball camp with other high school head and assistant coaches in the area. Boys, from ages 8 and up, are around basketball coaches with over 40 years combined in the basketball industry and some of this experience is sure to have involved past NBA activity of some sort.

There are actually four sessions for this summer basketball camp. The Fundamental summer basketball camp for third through ninth graders has two sessions: the first on June 8 through 11 and the second on June 15 through 18. The fee for these sessions are $185 per session. The High School Potential summer basketball camp has two sessions as well but on the same days, June 22 through June 25: the morning session is from 8am to noon and the afternoon session is from 1pm to 5pm. The fee for these sessions are $140 per session.
