Summer Camp - Sail Caribbean an Adventure to Remember!

Sail Carribean is a summer adventure camp for teenagers. This summer camp began over 27 years ago and offers a perfect mix of summer fun, adventure and learning. There are seven different summer camp programs offered for teens which take place in the Caribbean British Virgin Islands, Leeward Islands, Windward Islands , the Bahamas and the Grenadines. During your summer camp experience you will be living aboard 50-foot monohull yachts or 46-foot catamarans and sailing in fleets of 2 to 8 boats. Each summer camp experience offers a range of activities with a unique focus which include; water sports, scuba diving, marine biology, environmental studies, cultural exploration, leadership training and community service. Academic credits can also be earned with some of the programs. Summer camp adventures range form 10 to 21 days and cost 0between $2,995 - $5,395.

Bravo Sailing and Water Sports Adventure takes place in the British Virgin Islands. During your time at this summer camp you can learn to windsurf or wakeboard, go day or night scuba diving, attend marine biology seminars, or take the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course. Sailing 3 to 4 hours every day, each camper will also receive sailing instructions. Exploring beaches and islands, dancing with stilt walkers at Trellis Bay, sailing Hobiecats, kayaking, searching the reefs for undiscovered wrecks, hiking to Gorda Peak to view unforgettable panoramic views, and exploring the enormous boulders at the Baths will all be part of this summer camp experience.

Charlie Scuba and Sailing Expeditions take place in the British Virgin Islands. This summer camp experience offers sailing, water sports and island exploration but its main focus is on diving. Campers will experience the crystal-blue underwater world full of rainbow-colored fish, coral, and other exotic sea creatures. Scuba diving certifications and options are offered for every level of diving interest, from those who have never even tried diving, to those who already have advanced certifications.

Delta Sailing and Cultural Voyages take place in the Leeward Islands. These islands offer culturally diverse destinations and have longer sails between islands including an overnight passage. Exploring St. Barths, and Statia's rainforest are several of the adventures of this 17 day sail. Water sports, diving, snorkeling and island exploration also are a part of this memorable summer camp experience.

Echo Leadership and Sailing Expeditions take place in the Windward Islands. The summer campers that take part in this adventure are college age students that want to bring out the leader within themselves. They plan their own voyages and navigate the 50 foot yacht themselves. Sail Caribbean senior sailing staff is on hand if needed. Two campers will be assigned on a rotating basis to the roles of Captain and Mate and be completely responsible for creating the schedule, running the ship and leading the group throughout the day.

Foxtrot Environmental Service Projects takes place in the British Virgin Islands aboard a 46 foot catamaran. During this summer adventure catching and tagging sea turtles at Great Harbor is one of the goals. Studying the sea grass beds at Great Harbor, visiting endangered reefs to do fish counts and performing check-ups on the coral reefs health are all part of this memorable summer adventure.

Eleuthera Marine Biology Ashore is one of Sail Caribbean's two summer camp adventures that take place on land. Using the Island School as your base, you'll explore Eleuthera's pink and white sand beaches, coral gardens, delicate reefs and fish-filled seas. Overnight sea-kayaking, scuba diving and exploring are all things to enjoy during this summer program.

Carriacou Ecology and Community Service Ashore takes place in the Grenedine archipelago. The Kido Ecological Research Center will be your home for this 18 day summer camp adventure. Exploring Carricou's beaches and national parks, snorkeling, hiking and kayaking will fill your leisure time. You will get to work at The United Nations restorations projects, do fieldwork, research an take part in discussions with local youth on coastal restoration of mangroves.

Each of Sail Caribbean's summer camp adventures offer the opportunity to work with local youth. This community service gives back to the islands in many different ways. Restoring beaches and bays to their natural beauty, assisting local school and organizations with reading instruction, helping with team sports and teaching swimming and snorkeling to children are a few examples of community service. Working with the local youth of this beautiful area to help preserve the delicate and precious balance of the ecosystem of the Caribbean is one of the most rewarding aspects of this summer camp adventure.
