Summer camps are a great way for children to spend their time off of school. They learn new experiences as well as go on great adventures at many of these camps. Pennsylvania has a variety of different summer camps available for a wide range of age groups. Some of these summer camps specialize in different forms of entertainment for children while others have a variety of things to offer.

Independent Lake Camp is located in the Pocono Mountain region of Pennsylvania. It holds four different summer sessions for campers with each session lasting two weeks. The camp is spread out over 300 acres of land. The Independent Lake Camp offers campers the ability to join in their Circus Camp, Horse Camp, Role Playing Games and so many more activities. Campers are bunked together in rooms that hold from six to ten campers at a time. They will be looked over by two to three camp counselors at all times. Elk View is the name of the camp that Independent Lake holds for 7 to 12 year old children. Lakeside is the camp where 13 to 17 year olds go.

Teens that are going into their junior year of high school can join in the Counselor in Training program at Independent Lake Camp. This camp is held for four weeks to help train children to become counselors once they have completed the training.

Juniors that are enrolled in college can earn four credits toward their education by working in the camp. The student can opt to have the cost of the program deducted from the wages that they earn at Independent Lake camp.

These counselors are there to watch over the children during their stay.

I love to read and even more love to write. If there is something to learn out there I am up to my elbows in it. Researching just about everything is only one of my many interests.  View profile
