Summer Decorating Ideas on a Budget

Designing a fresh palette for summer can be tricky not to mention costly. You must know how to go about changing your decor for summer or else you may spend more than you need too. There are several tips and ways you can update your decor without breaking the bank.

Don't be afraid to mix and match items. You can move around a lot of items you already own. Changing them up in a different way can make a big difference. Moving furniture and accessories can give your room a new look. However, one thing that's more bang for your buck is painting. Start off with a new paint color and then mix up other colors in your accessories. Picking the right colored accessories can help set off your new wall color. This will help bring your design together. You can find out more about choosing paint colors by clicking here.

Picking out new pillows in floral, polka dots, stripes, and other patterns can also change your design up. Changing heavy draperies or curtains for lighter shears can update the room. You can find great summer patterns for pillows online. If you don't want to buy online and are looking for very inexpensive curtains or pillows check out Big Lots. They carry many sheer curtains around five dollars to twenty dollars a panel along with many pillows. If you have a very low budget you can find almost everything at Big Lots.

As I said before paint is the most affordable decorating choice. Almost anything can be painted. Try repainting floor boards, crown molding, doors, and kitchen cabinets. You can even paint kitchen counter tops. Painting is always an inexpensive way to liven up a space.

Buying candles in fresh scents give you the aromatic feel of summer. I love the wonderful fragrances. Other aromatic alternatives are adding flowers. Plant some rosemary in a small pot and keep it near a window. Then, once it has grown big enough you can transplant or move it outdoors. In the meantime, this is a great way to add more fragrance to your space.

Changing old outlet covers or light switch covers can help the room look new. They are inexpensive and you can find them at any hardware or home improvement store. Buying new cabinet handles or knobs can give a face-lift to older cabinets. Check out all the varieties at your local Lowe's or Home Depot. You can also check online.

Decorating outdoors for summer can be easy. Change the look of your exterior by repainting your home or just paint the trim, shutters, and front door. If you have an old cement sidewalk that's cracked you can fill in the cracks with cement caulking. Then, paint over any sidewalk stains with sidewalk paint. Plant flowers in decorative flower boxes for easy to maintain flower beds. Be creative when redesigning for summer utilize objects for decorating the outdoors as well.
