There are a number of high profile concerts coming over the next few months but here are just a few that you should check out:
American Carnage tour with Slayer and Megadeth Monday, April 19 at Cobo Arena-Heavy metal fans couldn't ask for a better tour with two metal giants teaming up for the first time since 1991. Slayer and Megadeth will be joined by Testament , who were with them on their '91 "Clash of the Titans" tour. In recognition of the tough economic times, there are a number of $10 tickets available for all of the tour's U.S. dates and Megadeth is offering a Ultimate Fan Package that includes meet and greets, premium seats and pre-show parties.
H20 World Tour with Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker and Justin Moore Friday, June 11 at DTE Energy Music Theatre- Country music fans will enjoy Brad Paisley's H20 World Tour, which was conceived in honor of World Water Day and will be sponsored by Hope Through Healing Hands who have a campaign for clean, safe water. Throughout the tour, the group will be digging wells and purifying water.
Jimmy Buffet's Under the Big Top Tour Tuesday, June 22 at DTE Energy Music Theatre- "Parrotheads" will once again get a chance to party away with Jimmy Buffet, who is out on tour in support of his latest album, Buffet Hotel, which is the actual name of a hotel in Mali.
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bret Michaels and .38 Special Thursday, June 24 at DTE Energy Music Theatre- Old school rock and roll fans will enjoy this tour featuring Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, reality tv star Bret Michaels and American rock band .38 Special.
United In Rock Tour with Styx, Foreigner and Kansas Sunday, June 27 at DTE Energy Music Theatre- Classic rock fans can enjoy this teaming up of three iconic rock bands that helped shape the rock and roll scene with over 100 million albums sold.
Sting with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra Friday, July 16 at DTE Energy Music Theatre- This tour finds Sting being backed by the 45-piece Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra performing his solo material along with many of The Police's greatest hits.
The Final Frontier tour with Iron Maiden and Dream Theater Saturday, July 17 at DTE Energy Music Theatre- Iron Maiden promises to cover their whole career on this tour and Dream Theater are known for their amazing live shows.
The Last Rodeo tour with Brooks & Dunn and Gary Allan Thursday, July 29 at DTE Energy Music Theatre- Brooks & Dunn will be calling it quits after this tour so their fans should grab the opportunity to see them one more time.
Green Day and AFI Monday, August 23 at DTE Energy Music Theatre- Alternative rock fans should flock to this Summer tour featuring rock opera greats Green Day and angsty punk infused AFI.
Too Fast For Love tour 3OH!3 and Cobra Starship Wednesday, May 5 at the Fillmore- Techno group 3OH!3 and American synth-pop Cobra Starship seem like a perfect match and will be playing 29 shows throughout the U.S.
The 94.7 WCSX Birthday Jam featuring Jeff Beck Sunday, June 20 at the Fillmore- Jeff Beck will be headlining WCSX's birthday show at the Fillmore this year. The guitarist will be performing on the heels of a highly acclaimed last minute performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th anniversary concert.
Happy Daze tour with Insane Clown Posse, Kottonmouth Kings, Coolio, Kittie and Necro Saturday, May 15 at the Meadow Brook Music Festival- Horrorcore rappers ICP will be bringing their "Dark Carnival" antics in their first outdoor Metro Detroit show in a decade. The show is easily the most eclectic tour of the Summer and should be the most entertaining.
Simon & Garfunkel Tuesday, May 11 at the Palace of Auburn Hills- Folk rock greats Simon & Garfunkel will be making a rare stop in Detroit on their reunion tour that began with a highlight performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th anniversary concert.
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers with Drive-By Truckers Thursday, July 22 at the Palace of Auburn Hills- Petty and his band are getting ready to release their first studio album in eight years called Mojo and are hitting the road to support the release. The shows will feature a number of surprise guests.

Post a CommentI was the Iron Maiden show and for some reason they are only doing newer material on the Final Frontier tour. 10 of the songs they did were from their albums put out after 2000 and only 6 were from previous releases.
