Summertime brings lots of opportunities for entertainment, education, and family fun. You might even learn a thing or two from Zoo Director, Thane Maynard. He's appeared on national talk shows and his "90 Second Naturalist" radio spots air nationwide. There's also an exciting schedule of summer events to choose from.
Zoo Babies May 1 - 31, 2011
During the Zoo Babies event, six foot storks point the way to the zoo's smallest residents. Weekend entertainment brings children's book and cartoon favorites to life.
- Meet the baby giraffe born April 2, 2011.
-Weekend entertainment show times - 10:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 2:30 pm.
Wild About Wine - May 12, June 23, Aug 18 - 6:30 to 8:30p.m.
The Zoo offers cool alternatives to happy hour. Each 21 and over Wild About Wine event takes place in a different area of the zoo. Individual event tickets are $35. A three event package is $90. Each includes the following:
-Souvenir wine glass
-Sample eight wines
-Live music
-Animal encounters
-Appetizers donated by local restaurants
Night Hunters Opens - May 21, 2011
The Zoo website calls Night Hunters "The best of the Nocturnal House + The Best of the Cat House". Be one of the first to see the Pygmi Slow Lorris and the Fishing Cat in their new environment.
Zoo Golf - May 23, 2011 - Registration: 11:00 a.m.
The Golf outing lets you experience the Zoo without missing your game. Your registration fee gets you up close to zoo animals on the golf course. The $450. Registration fee includes:
-Golfing
-Gifts for every player
-Lunch, dinner and snacks
-Raffle
-Awards
-Putting contest with cash prizes
Flip Nicklin Lecture - June 16, 2011 - 7:00 p.m.
Flip Nicklin has spent a lifetime photographing belugas, bow heads and other whale species. The National Geographic whale photographer and mammal specialist will share his experiences at the zoo's Harold C Schott Education Center.
Lecture- $10.00 Members - $8.00
Reds Day at the Zoo - June 27, 2011- - noon to 1:00 p.m.
The Cincinnati Reds are hot! You'll get to meet some of your favorite players on Reds Day. The Reds mascots will be there too.
Visitor Appreciation Days - August 5, 6, and 7, 2011
The Cincinnati Zoo says thank you with three days of half price admission and parking.
