Looking for something different to add to your agenda this summer? If so, check out the numerous fairs and festivals that Bloomington, Indiana has to offer. Browse wares from local artists, savor the variety of Bloomington's unique dining, or lend your ear to the multiple music festivals scheduled throughout the summer in this culturally diverse town. Here are just a few from which to choose.

The Arts Fair on the Square is celebrating its 25th year of existence on June 20th. Sponsored by the Bloomington Area Arts Council (BAAC), this one day show is held in downtown Bloomington surrounding the Courthouse. Enjoy visual arts and crafts of local artisans, from hand-woven baskets to beautiful paintings. After your browsing is complete, spend time in the unique shops downtown. If food is your passion, let the Taste of Bloomington awaken your taste buds. This annual event, held on June 20th this year at the Showers Common, celebrates the vast array of dining experiences in Bloomington. Sample the best of over thirty restaurants, from all-American to International cuisine. Whether it be a steak from one of the many grills or something more multicultural, you're sure to find something to tickle your fancy. When you've had your fill, stick around for live music from local bands. Hours are 3pm-11pm and admission is TBA. For more information, call (812) 336-3681.

You're bound to find something that peaks your interest during the IU Summer Musical Festival, and on-going event from mid-June through mid-August. The festival includes a variety of concerts, such as jazz, orchestral, and even outdoor music. The very popular Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra always gives an outstanding performance. If you love Chamber Music, be sure to check out famous musicians such as the Beaux Arts Trio and the Penderecki Quartet. Spend a summer evening on the lawn of the MAC during one of the outdoor concerts. Some of the events are free, and pricing ranges for ticketed concerts. Locations vary with each presentation, so be sure to contact the IU Jacob's School of Music at (812) 855-9846 for this year's lineup.
