Summer to Fall Beauty Transition

Autumn is right around the cornier, and it is time to start thinking about updating your summer look for the next season.

As the leaves change colors, our summer tan begins to fade. While the golden glow that you worked so hard to attain looked so healthy in the summer months, the cooler air of fall can cause your skin to look dry and tired. Using a product like Jergens Natural Glow ($8.49 at www.drugstore.com) can extend the life of your tan while providing adequate moisture to your skin. To help your tan fade gradually and naturally without appearing dry, a lotion with pure aloe vera gel like Rite Aid Aloe Therapeutic Body Lotion ($5.00) will help heal your skin and prepare it for the crisper days of fall.

Summer can wreak havoc on your hair. The sun, sand, wind, and water can leave your locks dry, limp, and without luster. To restore shine and moisture to tired tresses, an intensive treatment like Paul Mitchell The Mask ($12.70 at www.extendedlengths.com), paired with a daily regime of Pantene shampoo and conditioner will do the trick. Laying off the heat styling for a while will also do wonders to restore your hair to its former glory.

Our face is the first place on our body to show damaged caused by the sun. While staying out of the sun is the only sure way to prevent the aging effects, sunscreen can help to ward off any damage. Since exposure cannot be totally avoided, there are some things to make your skin look fresher for fall. A gentle daily exfoliating regimen like Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant ($40 at www.extendedlengths.com) will remove dead facial skin cells, leaving new, fresher skin in its place.

Our lips also show the effects of too much time in the sun, but can also become dry as the result of wind and cooler temperatures. Sally Hansen Lip Exfoliator + Moisturizer ($7.78 at www.well.ca.com) is a great combination product to repair summer damage, protect your lips from chilly autumn weather, and provide just the right amount of shine and color.

Our hands and feet, like our lips, show the aging effects of the sun and sand. Colder weather also means dryness and cracking for our hands. Avon has long been a moisturizing mainstay for many women. Avon Foot Works Deep Moisture Creme ($1.99 at www.avon.com) is the perfect all season foot moisturizer. Avon Basics Silicone Glove Hand Creme ($3.00 at www.avon.com) is hands down (pun intended) the best choice for keeping your hands smooth, moisturized, and young looking. The thickness of Avon Basics Silicone Glove Hand Creme makes me feel pampered and protect, and the scent is both refreshing and clean.

As you may have gathered, exfoliating and moisturizing are essential not only for the summer months, but to keep you looking your best during the fall as well.
