Summer to Fall Fashion Transition Tips for 20 Something Women

Tips for Making Your Summer Clothing Fall Ready!

Another summer is coming to a close and fall is creeping in. For some women changing seasons means going out and buying a new fall-appropriate wardrobe. That doesn't have to be so! Believe it or not, you can take your current summer clothing and adapt them to wear into the fall months! You don't have to pack up your tanks, skirts, and flip flops; you can still enjoy them with a little bit of creative effort. Here are some tips in summer to fall fashion transitions for us 20 something women.

(1) Skinny jeans, if you still think they're trendy, can be worn with cute, stylish pumps and off-the-shoulder shirts or sweaters.

(2) Looser fitting jeans also look great with summer pumps and flirty summer tops.

(3) To keep the summer state of mind going into the fall, you can always wear your flip flops with jeans and capris. I am guilty of wearing my brown Rainbows almost year-round in Florida. Now when traveling during the Fall where it gets chillier than Florida, that's when it's time to put the flip flops up because, well for one, your toes are going to be cold, and I think it's a tacky look to wear flip flops with jeans and long sleeves. Flip flops go okay with jeans and short sleeves or tanks.

(3) I do recommend packing up those yellow and bright color washed jeans, if you were into that last Spring, and keep out the blue, faded, dark washes, and the distressed hues. You want to transition out of that bright, lively spring to Summer mood and into a more darker, autumn color Fall fashion bottoms.

(4) A lightweight cotton knit sweater can be worn over tanks, strapless tops, and summer dresses. In the Fall it can be cool in the mornings, warm up during the day, and cool back down at night. The sweater is an easy take on, take off accessory.

(5) A demin mini skirt can be worn during the fall transition too. (Yes, 20 somethings with the right body can still wear mini skirts. The cut off age in my book is 30!) Back in the summer I was wearing denim minis with bare shoulder shirts and such. During the Fall I will wear them with darker color leggings, maybe a light sweater, and flats. If you like flat boots like Uggs you can also wear short skirts with them as well.

(6) A simple scarf can instantly turn your top and jeans look into a "warmer" feel and appearance. Go for a splash of color to the scarf, like fushia, rainbow, or pink. On cool Fall nights, it will keep your neck from getting cold.

(7) A sleeved henley or light hoodie can be worn over a tank top or cami and removed as the day heats up. You don't need to bring out the jackets until Fall-Winter.

(8) Capris and boy shorts from summer can be carried over into Fall. These will keep your legs warmer and make you look more Fall ready than beach ready.

(9) For a color "wow" to your career wardrobe, wear your bright colored summer tees and tanks under your darker lower-cut or V-neck suit tops. The right contrast in color peeping across very much compliments the grey, navy, and black suit tops. It breaks up the monotony and boring look of white and cream color under shirts.

(10) Another accessory from summer that can be taken into the Fall are summer bags. Bags and purses are probably the most left out part of the whole wardrobe brain-storming. The striped totes that you may have taken to the beach can be carried with your casual jeans and hoodie look. For the career-minded, those single color blue, black, and brown large totes look great with your suit, especially if the colors compliment what you're wearing that day.
