I've seen family reunions where the youngest guest is a baby, and the eldest member approaching one hundred. Consequently, planning activities to please everyone can be difficult. So what can you do to keep everyone occupied? Possibly one or more of these activities will help make your next family reunion a big hit.
Family Reunion Masquerade Ball
Having a family masquerade ball can be lots of fun, and a great "black tie" event. Imagine the fun in trying to guess who is behind the mask. The little ones, teens and even the elderly can get in on this one. It also allows for dancing, tasty treats and self expression in choosing outfits and masks for the occasion.
Family Reunion Game Night
This activity can be held at a community center or in a hotel meeting room. To accommodate all ages, include a variety of games such as Scrabble, Bingo, Monopoly, Chutes and Ladders, Pictionary, Uno and Poker. Give away simple and fun prizes to winners. Consider shopping for prizes at a party favor store. Some suggestions include game theme key chains, playing cards, edible poker chips, neon shoelaces, toy whistles and yo-yo's.
Family Talent Night and Step Performances
I'm sure your family is oozing with talent. Give family members an opportunity to showcase their talent in your own family talent show. For more fun, consider having groups come together for step performances. If you don't know what stepping is, think of a show with dance steps and rhymes that show pride in your family. The kids will have a blast and older family members will enjoy being entertained.
Family Reunion Exhibits
Choose a day to allow family members to display their favorite photos and heirlooms. These exhibitions can be a walk down memory lane for some, and an educational experience for others. Be sure to take lots of photos to exhibit at the following year's reunion.
Other Family Reunion Activities
Depending upon the locale of your reunion there are a variety of activities one can plan. The family can participate in tours of museums and other interesting sites, or attend at a major sporting event like a baseball game. Family picnics are also a reunion favorite. For added picnic fun plan a fishing excursion, scavenger hunt or barbecue/chili cook-off.
Make your next family reunion an enjoyable and memorable event.
