There are cowboys and scenery worthy of honor in Idaho, and this western state doesn't forget its heritage during the summer festival season. It has more to offer than just chaps and rock formations though. If you are heading out west this summer, stop in at any one of these fine festivals.

The Experience Festival, which is held just eight miles west of Boise in Eagle, Idaho, is a unique educational festival meant to bring out creativity in its patrons. The festival takes place from May 18 - May 20 at Eagle Island State Park, and offers crafts, performances, workshops, and more to help tap into each visitors' creative energy. If you would rather just enjoy the art than attempt to create it, there is lots of art to enjoy at the Challis Mountain Lilac Festival in downtown Challis, during May 25 - June 24. The art show is one of the finest in Idaho, and there are also unique events such as cowboy poetry, a horse show, a photography contest, and more. The Cherry Festival, from June 13 - 16, in Emmett, Idaho, celebrates the abundance of fruit crops in the Valley of Plenty. If you enjoy your basic fair activities, such as rides, food, entertainment, crafts, and a parade, you'll have plenty to do. I you are the competitive type, you can enter the pie-eating or cherry pit-spitting contests.

Attended by hundreds of tourists each year, the Grand Teton Summer Festival in Driggs offers everything you would expect from a summer festival, plus a hot air balloon race. The McCall Summer Music Festival at Roseberry celebrates twenty-five years of bringing music to Idaho this summer. The Caldwell Night Rodeo in Caldwell, ID takes place during August 14 - 18, 2007 at the Caldwell Night Rodeo Grounds.
