Summer Festivals in Michigan

Big-time bands, the arts, culture, and baby food are all plentiful at festivals all over the state of Michigan this summer. Just don't step on a crawling baby!

It's probably not all that surprising to find that Holland, MI has a Dutch heritage. It's celebrated at the Tulip Time Festival, along with the flower of the festival's name. The festival takes place all over the town from May 5 - 12, and features such unique events as tulip trolley tours, a town crier competition, Klompen dancers, and a horse show. If you'd like to join in the celebration, get all the information you'll need at http://www.tuliptime.com/

The Annual St. Mary's Polish Country Fair can claim the title of the United States' largest high school fair. Taking place on the campus of the Orchard Lake schools in Orchard Lake, MI, May 25th through 28th, the Polish Country Fair draws over two-hundred thousand people to the four-day event. Rides, entertainment, and food join the giant Vegas tent and the Home and Garden Expo in bringing in the crowd. Over one thousand volunteers will be on hand to offer any assistance and join in the festivities. Find out more at http://www.stmaryspolishcountryfair.com/

The Detroit Festival of the Arts is held in the cultural center of midtown Detroit. This festival, which is renowned for its global flavor, takes place over a twenty block area of the city, and includes an artists' market, ten stages, a literary festival, European street performers, and a children's fair. Attend the event for free during June 8 - 10. If you would like more information, it's available at http://detroitfestival.com/07/

If it's recognizable music and nationally-known performing artists you are looking for, you can get those in spades at the Muskegon Summer Celebration, from June 28 - July 8, at Heritage Landing in Muskegon. This eleven-day music festival has hosted some of the most famous musical acts of the past few years, and this year it features musicians and bands such as Daughtry, B.B. King, and the Goo Goo Dolls. To find out more about the festival, and learn how to buy tickets, go to the event's official website at http://www.summercelebration.com/

While most summer festivals offer a few things for the kids to do, none of them can declare to offer baby-themed activities, except for maybe this one. The National Baby Food Festival in downtown Fremont, MI, on July 17 - 21, has things for even the tiniest member of your family to do. Fremont, the home of the Gerber company, draws in over one hundred thousand people with the baby crawl, as well as all of your other festival favorites, like live entertainment, food, and activities.
