Looking for a fun summer festival to take your family to this summer, but do not want to go to the same old ordinary and tired festivals that seem to plague the summer? Nebraska is the answer to your boredom. Rods, windmills, and Danes, Nebraska has it all this summer at their festivals across the state.

Grundlovsfest takes place in Dannebrog, Nebraska's Danish Capital, happening this year on June 2nd and 3rd. The weekend event honors the town's Danish heritage, by celebrating the anniversary if the signing of the Free Constitution of Denmark back in 1849. This tiny town's population triples during the popular festival. With a cake walk, a jam session, horse and buggy rides, a parade, a street dance, a beer garden, tons of great Danish food, including Danish Pancakes known as "Aebleskiver", and performances by numerous musicians, Grundlovsfest is one big small town festival. Find out more information about the events taking place on the festival website at http://www.dannebrog.org/html/annual_festivals.html

The Comstock Windmill Festival takes place from June 7th through 10th at the 2nd Wind Ranch. With musical performances by country acts, such as Sawyer Brown, Collin Raye, Kenny Rogers, Jamie O'Neal, Big & Rich, and many, many more, it is easy to think of this as a music festival, but there are also helicopter rides, hot air balloons, a bull riding rodeo, arts and crafts, food, and more, all surrounded by the restored historic windmills of the area. Find out more about the festival here.

Get a taste of Nebraska's past at the Nebraskaland Days, held all around North Platte from June 9th through 23rd. Free performances and demonstrations will provide entertainment during the day, and The Buffalo Bill Rodeo will take over the Wild West Arena for four night-time performances. Restored antique farm equipment will be on display, and there are also carnival rides and games, the Miss Rodeo Nebraska contest, art shows, parades, food, and more. If you like cars, you must get to Americruise. This huge car show takes place at State Fair Park in Lincoln, taking place this year from June 29 - July 1, 2007. The parades of cars come in from cities all around the area, bringing two thousand custom and classic cars, as well as street rods. Forty thousand avid fans will be on hand for such performance testing events as the zero to forty acceleration test, the forty to zero brake test, a safety inspection, and awarding of rod of the year. The staffs of many of the nation's top car magazines, such as Rod & Custom and Custom Rodder will be on hand to meet with visitors and drivers. One of the biggest and most well-attended car shows of any type in the country, this is one unique event. Find out more about it at http://www.statefair.org/

These festivals are sure to provide you something to do that is a bit different from your usual summer festivals. Make the trip to these Nebraska festivals for a unique experience this summer.
