Tributes Take the Stage to Deliver the Music Festival of Yesteryear Along with Other Summer Festivals

In Roswell, Georgia starting in May and ending in October Tribute bands will take the stage for some free music festival entertainment for this years Riverside Sounds Concert Series in Roswell's Riverside Park.

Although the first music festival on May 2, 2009, a tribute to John Denver by Friends With You was rained out. This first of six outdoors music festivals will all feature Tribute bands. The theme is "A Tribute to Tributes," and the six bands will perform on their respective Saturday's from May to October 2009.

Tribute bands are just that they are bands that pay tribute to a particular band or artist like the Beatle's, Jimmy Buffett, John Denver, Motown Magic and no tribute series would be complete without the King Elvis Presley.

Tribute bands are become increasingly more in demand as the boomers grow older and the original artist have retired or gone on to glory on the great stage in the sky. The ability to appeal to all ages is evident in all these classic bands. All generations since the boomers have played and re-recorded the music of these great artists. It won't be long until they re-create Woodstock the original music festival.

The Planet Rock Experience is June 6th.The Music of Motown comes July 11th with Sounds of Essence. August 1st is King-sized, an Elvis memorial show quickly followed with vintage 1960's Beatles tribute by The Return. Then lastly is A1A The Jimmy Buffett Official Tribute Band.

These are free music festivals from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Riverside Park on the Chattahoochee River.

On Monday May 25th the largest Memorial Day celebration in the state gets under way with "Roswell Remembers." This year 2009 Colonel Benjamin H. Purcell will speak. Colonel Purcell is a decorated Viet Nam War veteran and former POW. All the activities with "Roswell Remembers" will take place at City Hall and starts at 10am. It continues well into the afternoon with food served after the festivities usually around 1pm.

Then on June 20th the Magnolia House Storytelling Festival at Bulloch Hall gets under way as one of the more family favorite summer festivals in Roswell. Again it's free and is always fun for all ages.

Then on Saturday July 4th is the 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza at Roswell high School. Admission is free since you can locate in any parking lot close to the high school and watch as this annual summer festival gets underway at sunset, usually around 9 p.m.

Then on Saturday and Sunday July 18th & 19th is the 10th Annual Flying Colors Butterfly Festival at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Admission is $10 Non-member and $8 Members. Experience the thrill of a live butterfly release including swallowtail butterflies. It also features scavenger hunts, crafts, face painting, special presentations and more.

Lots of summer festivals in Roswell, Georgia this year for the whole family. Come on out and enjoy the fun on the beautiful Chattahoochee River.
