Summer Flicks 2010

A-Team (June 11th)
Just a few words. Tank...paracute. They seriously drop out of a plane, with parachutes to slow the tank down while firing haphazardly across the sky. I want to see the movie just for this scene. Liam Neesan and the rest of the cast will do beautifully. I'm excited to see the old show taken to the big screen. I'll be there opening night for sure to see this new incarnation of the A-Team in movie format.

Toy Story 3 (June 18th)
Barbie finally makes an appearance in a Toy Story movie as the toys are shipped away when their owner goes to college. He still wants Woody though and the toys must make their way from where they were donated and horribly abused, fighting against the machinations of a council of evil toys attempting to seduce Buzz Lightyear. If you're a Toy Story fan, or a kid, it'll be great to see.

Jonah Hex (June 18th)
Now this is seriously a movie I never thought to saw in film, and I'm excited to see him make it there. The anti-hero disfigured gunslinger from DC making his way to the big screen. It's a Western fantasy, with elements of the supernatural stepping into the world of the wild west to highlight what is supposed to be Hex's biggest adventure yet.

Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Undead (June 18th)
Jake Hoffman, Jeremy Sisto, Devon Aoki, and Ralph Macchio star in this horror/comedy where a new take is written of William Shakespeare's Hamlet...by a real life Romanian Vampire. The director tries to direct while staying true to his love and everyone tries to avoid the detective desperately attempting to solve the rash of mysterious murders. I can't express in words how hilarious this looks.

Eclipse (June 30th)
Other than it comes out on my birthday. There isn't a lot to say. The third movie in the series. I expect that those who like the series and the movies will see it. Those who don't, won't. Twilight is as usual semi-controversial with half the world loving it and the other half scoffing.

The Last Airbender (July 2nd)
To be honest I'm not sure how this cartoon series will translate to film. The effects look spectacular in the little I've seen but again I'm not sure how well Shyamalan will direct a movie like this. I can't wait to see it, I loved the animated series but I really am skeptical on how well it will turn out. If nothing else though, it looks to be worth seeing for the effects. On second thought, definitely worth seeing for the effects. Just watched the trailer again. Epic.

Knight and Day (July 2nd)
Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. I don't much like Cruise, never have. But this is actually a movie I plan on going to see this July. It looks to be quite entertaining action movie with a war between "truth and trust" with the two leads as they travel through the movie fleeing capture by a dogged Federal Agent played by Peter Sarsgaard.

Despicable Me (July 9th)
In this animated feature Steve Carell plays a man intent on on stealing the moon. Until he's put in charge of three orphans that is. On the movie poster it reads "Superbad. Superdad." It looks to be a hilarious feature on a comedic super-villain. I can't wait to see it, especially after seeing those little hench/minion characters in trailers.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice (July 16th)
I didn't know until recently when I was doing a little research on the movie that it was SUPPOSED to be somewhat comedic and entertaining instead of a really truly hardcore Fantasy movie. Nicholas Cage plays a sorcerer in Manhattan defending the city from an ancient evil along with his hapless apprentice. Produced by the same team as did the National Treasure movies.

Salt (July 23rd)
Angelina Jolie plays a CIA Agent accused of being a Russian Spy sent to assassinate the President in this Spy thriller. Written by the same writer who wrote Equilibrium the trailer has me excited to see this thriller. Angelina Jolie looks well, at her best as per usual.
