Summer Fun with Disney Records - 'Cause Gas Prices Are Too High to Travel!
How Johnny and the Sprites & Imagination Movers Are Hookin' Me Up
So, if you're like me and are an "Entrepreneurial Parent," you've got a "crap" load of stuff to do and ONLY 24 Hours to accomplish it. Unless you're AC's Mommie Tullotes - you're trying to get your s*** together and lined up for the next few months of "Summer Madness" (oops I mean Fun).
So what's a Mama to do? Well, one could just put them in a room, turn on the TV and forget about them for about 12 weeks but I guess that would not be good parenting right? One could also turn on the water hose, put out a slip and slide and shut the door...no, it's too hot out there and inevitably, my 7 year old will come knocking for some ice pops and declare that the girl next door has mistreated him. After ranting, he'll head upstairs to his sister (the 12 year old), start going through her stuff, harassing her and soon both will scream downstairs -"Mom, can you tell him/her to STOP??!!" Oh, the dread of it all!!
Now, I don't want y'all to get the impression that I don't like my babies- I really, really LOVE them, they are truly the "wind beneath my wings." But sometimes, they can really get a Sistah's plumage in a ruffle - you know what I mean?
Now, because I'm a planner (I like to think this even with children), I've got the email list together to schedule play dates, sleepovers, and some camp type activities for everyone. I've got folks coming in to do estimates on making the yard spiffy for play and a few (very few) events over at our house. I'm getting the video, CD and book collections in order and have checked out the local Public Library system for their schedule of daytime/nightime events. I believe there might even be a couple of free technology workshops going on - thank goodness I've got a branch up the block from me. Oh yeah, and for the Mother of all events, the FAMILY ROAD Trip, DISNEY RECORDS has got me covered!
I've already test-driven the Disney Music solution without the 8 year-old (well, he'll be 8 when we hit the road) even knowing that he was a human guinea pig- bruhahaha!!!
Now, I know he loves the Disney Channel, Nick/Nick Jr, and the likes so I knew it would be easy. So, on the way to school, I put in Juice Box Heroes (Imagination Movers) as well as Johnny and the Sprites CDs into my car player (one day for each) so as not to raise suspicion - kids are really smart you know. Before I knew it, that kid was jammin' and singing those songs like nobody's business. He was so excited that he could hear his favorite tv tunes on the road, in the house and everywhere else he could hardly contain himself.
I must say that I'm addicted to some of the music as well. Those CDs have got me singing stuff like, "Clean My Room," "The Medicine Song," "What's in The Fridge" "We've Got Each Other," "It's Party Time," "Give It A Try," "That's What Friends Do" and more!
Now, that I've got a week left before the Summer "Fun" begins at my house, I'm savoring every moment and "Feelin' Gove-y" (just like Johnny and the Sprites), until they start to put some "Muddle In The Puddle!" ---- LOL
So, what are your plans for the kiddies this Summer? I'd really like to share....

"The G-man"
Fun article and what kid doesn't love anything from Disney? Thanks for the mention, by the way. :-)
Hey Folks, My 7 year old read this and found a typo. The song title is "Feelin Grove-y" - not Feelin "Gove-y"
Wouldn't want to misrepresent his music-and sorry Disney
