Summer Hair Styles

Keep Cool with One of These Easy Hair Tips for Hot Weather

C.F.Hilker
Summer hair styles are one of the best things about warm weather. Using a blow dryer in the summertime can be the worst. Not only are you already hot from the humidity outside, but putting too much demand on the electric grid can trip the circuit breakers in your house, especially if you've got the air conditioner going full tilt. Give the hair dryer a break this summer by wearing a sassy air-dry hairstyle.

Short Bobbed Haircuts

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a Bob is a women's hairstyle with the hair cut to neck length all around the head Bobs are great because there is literally a bob for every face shape, hair type and length. For those with curly or wavy hair, cutting a short Bob can make your styling time less than five minutes. Use the heat to your advantage by letting the hair dry from soaking wet. After showering comb hair with a wide-toothed comb, letting the hair fall into a natural part. Apply a spray gel and let the hair air dry, occasionally scrunching the hair with your hands. Those who have straight hair will achieve body by towel drying their hair and applying hair mousse and letting the hair air dry. The mousse will add body to otherwise limp hair. For ladies who want a bob without chopping your hair: Pull the hair in the crown from your temples up. Secure hair in a clip. Pull the hair left loose into a low bun and let the hair in the clip down. This creates an instant, no-cut Bob haircut.

Short Pixie Cut

Before London hairdresser, Vidal Sassoon made the Pixie haircut world famous by introducing the short, 5- point, geometric style in the 1960's, woman lived an exhausting life curling and fussing with their hair. Vidal's Pixie cut, inspired by German modernist Bauhaus architecture, freed woman of exhausting salon visits and created an easy, quick to style haircut. The Pixie cut requires little, if any product to get a look that is sophisticated, wild or fun. To style, add a dime-size amount of gel and tousle through the hair. Let the hair air dry naturally.

Braids

Braids are also one of the best, air-dry hairstyles. The look is not only stylish, but will also keep hair out of your face. When your hair is damp, spray a gel or a texturizer on the locks and braid your hair. The best part about putting hair into a braid is that once the hair has dried, you can wear the braid as is or take it out. To style when letting the hair loose from the braid, take the hair ties out of the end of the braid and shake the hair loose. Gently separate the waves with your fingers to style. Do not brush or comb the waves, this will cause the hair to become frizzy.

A Bun or Chingon

A French Twist or Chignon is another easy, air-dried look because any bun-style hairdo can be accomplished in minutes. To style, work a hair texture through damp hair. Twist the hair and coil it around until a bun is formed. Secure it with bobby pins. An added bonus to this hairstyle is that when the hair is taken out of the bun, it will have a slight wave. This hairstyle is perfect for a quick, sophisticated summertime look.
