Summer Heat: Five Ways to Keep it Cool

S. Morris
We all know summer is here , when we are dripping beads of sweat, bringing out the sunscreen, and just cannot seem to get cooled down at all.No matter how hard we try, we just can't seem to beat that heat. I found five great ways to cool you and your family down on that hot day!

Cool Cloths

I have found that a great way to get a quick cool down, other then jumping in a pool, is to wipe down your face, neck, arms, etc. , with a cool cloth! So here is what you do. Take out a medium sized plastic container. Bring out the old shirts, wash cloths, and towels. Cut all them all into squares that are big enough to be rolled up. Place all of the cloths, rolled up, and stacked into the plastic container. Run them under water until they are soaked well. When done, place the container with lid, in the refrigerator over night. When the next day arrives, there you have cool cloths for the family!

Ice

Ice cubes are great. Though personally, on a hot day, I feel they are not big enough to keep my drink cooled down. A great way to get more use out of the plastic Popsicle molders. Is to freeze water in them instead. When the next day rolls around I take one out, put it in my beverage or the kids' beverages. There you have a nice ice cold drink!

Spray Bottles

Another great way to keep cooled down. Buy each family member a spray bottle. Have each member pick a different color. Also buy spray bottle sizes to fit each person. Fill the bottles up and stick them in the refrigerator. The next day when the kids are out playing or your spouse is working in the yard and it is warming up. Pull the bottles out, hand them to each person. They will feel refreshed in no time!

Head bands

If you are a woman or have a woman or girls in your house. This is a great way for you to get cooled down on a hot summer day. Take some head bands that are lying around or purchase some(less then three dollars at most stores). The material kind, not plastic. Run them under water, put them in a sandwich bag. Place in the freezer over night. When you start to feel hot. Just put one on. Your hair wont make you feel so hot now!

Frozen Snacks

What is a better way to refresh a person on a hot day, than frozen snacks? Gives us energy and makes us feel great. Knowing the day is hot, we do not prefer hot foods! Making small frozen snacks that are in easy reach of the kids and easy to make for you. Makes a summer day that much more relaxing. Frozen yogurt is a yummy alternative to ice cream, also a great frozen snack. Putting a few of the individual yogurts in the refrigerator at night, is easy and cooling for everyone. Put some pieces of fruit in a little bag or container and put them in the freezer. Also another healthy alternative to junk foods and another great frozen snack.

Here are just a few of my tips for you this summer. Think cool, refreshing, and healthy. Be sure to have your family members apply plenty of sunscreen and drink lots of water to keep them all safe and cooled down on a hot day! Don't forget to try some of these tips to keep it cool!
