Summer Infant Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor
A Wonderful Baby Monitor, Wouldn't Use Anything Else
The very next day I went to the store and did just that. I was able to purchase it at Babies R Us for $149.99. This was two years ago. I just saw it on BabiesRUs.com website for $169.99. I don't know why it went up in price, maybe it is a newer model. To me it is still worth the money. My favorite feature is that it is portable. You don't have a big monitor that has to stay plugged into the wall. I could bring my son wherever I go in my house. I have even tried it outside and it comes in nice and clear. It does start to get some static the further outside you go. I usually only take into the backyard with me during the summertime while my son is napping.
Another great feature on this video monitor is that the battery pack is rechargeable. You never have to replace any batteries. You just have to make sure you plug it back in after it has been unplugged for a while. We usually keep it plugged in through the nighttime so it the battery is fully charged for the daytime. When the battery is starting to get weak, the monitor's light will go from a strong green to a strong red. That is when you know you need to plug it back in to get a full charge. This baby monitor also comes with an AC adapter. This video monitor gets a great color picture. If there is some sunlight reflecting in your child's room, then you will see a beautiful picture. I could actually see the color of my son's clothes that he is wearing. It also has a little stand on the handheld monitor. You could stand it upright or use the little stand to lean it on. I usually use the stand, it works well.
The "eye" of the camera can be screwed into the wall or even the crib. We started with it screwed into the crib but as my son became more intrigued with the light on the "eye "he was able to pull it right off and we would find it with him sitting in the crib. We ended up having to screw it into the wall above the crib. It still has the wire hanging we just have to make sure he can't get to it. The "eye" of the camera has switch A and switch B. You have to make sure you have it on the same frequency as the handheld monitor. So for example, if the "eye" is set on Switch A then the handheld video had to be set to Switch A too. It one end is not switched to the same frequency, you will only get static. Oh, I almost forgot. The handheld video also has a screen saver mode. Therefore, if you don't have it plugged in, there is a button on the top of the video monitor. At first, I thought my monitor was broken. I can't even tell you how long it took me to figure out that this was a screen saver and it goes into "sleep" mode if you have it on too long. It is a great feature.
I can not find any fault with this baby monitor. I would highly recommend the Summer Infant Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor to any new parent. I am sure you will not be disappointed. Check your weekly sales circulars. Sometimes the stores will have a coupon for any baby monitor.
