Job requirements include a knowledge of softball or baseball rules, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills. Job duties including officiating and directing youth games for children ages 9-12.
Sky Hawks is looking for coaches for its summer programs (weekday hours). This would be an excellent job for people who enjoy working with youth ages 4-14 and have a love for sports. There are a variety of St. Paul area locations, including Minneapolis, St. Paul, Inver Grove Heights, and White Bear Lake. CPR and First Aid certification are required for directors; First Aid certification required for coaches, and applicants must be 17 by June 1st.
Padelford Riverboats needs boat crew and office crew positions filled this summer. Boat crew duties include customer service, bartending and concessions, and boat cleaning and preparation. There are both part and full time positions available (daytime, weekend, and evening), starting at $8/hour and averaging up to $10/hour with bonuses. Requirements include a positive attitude and flexible availability. Applicants for boat crew must be 18. Office crew duties include ticket sales, check-in, answering phones, and customer service. Requirements include flexible availability, computer experience, and ability to work on holidays. Pay is $10/hour and 20-25 hours/week.
For those who want to work with children but not in a sports or camp environment, this AmeriCorps VISTA opportunity may be a good fit. The Summer Reads program works with school age children from kindergarten through 3rd grade in Minneapolis and St. Paul summer school. Mornings are spent as classroom aides, and afternoons are spent facilitating activities at various sites (libraries, recreation centers, etc). This is an eight-week opportunity to enhance teaching skills, and pays $200/week plus a $1000 education award upon completion. Requirements include adaptability, interpersonal skills, and high energy levels. Applicants must be 18 or older.
