Summer Movies Coming to Theater: Movies I Want to See

The Movies I Want to See and My Predictions for How Well They Will Do in the Theater

Linda StCyr
Several movies are coming out this summer that I want to see in the theater although I may have to wait until a few come out on DVD. The quickness of that will depend on how well the movies do in the theater. Although, reviews of the movies are not posted until the day after the movies release dates here are the movies I want to see and my predictions on how well I think the movies will do based on the trailers.

Get Him to the Greek (6/4/2010)-
Starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand, this film is sure to make me laugh. Jonah Hill plays an intern to a record company who must get a rock legend back to Hollywood for his comeback show. The few trailers I have seen for this film remind me of films like Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Super Troopers and The Hangover which are what I categorizes as "stupid funny". I don't think it will do well in the theater. I usually save my money for a movie ticket to see a movie with drama and intrigue not a comedy. I do think it will do well once it goes to DVD and that it would be a good movie for a cool, rainy night with a group of friends.

I Am Love (6/18/2010)-
This film stars Tilda Swinton as a Russian immigrant wife and mother who lives in Milan and whose life is suddenly swept up in love and not with her husband. The story surrounds the wealthy Recchi family once the family's patriarchal figure decides to hand over the reigns of his company in a split between his son and his grandson. Although the film is subtitled I think it will do well in theaters as a great date movie. Subtitled films almost always add an element of romance for the viewer.

The A-Team (6/11/2010)-
I used to watch the television series so I am torn on this film. I want to see it succeed but I am terribly afraid that it will bomb. There doesn't seem to be an in between element. It will either be great or fail. The trailer for the movie did make it look promising though. With names like Liam Neeson, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Bradley Cooper and Jessica Biel, in the cast it should turn into a pretty awesome movie. The stunts and explosions hinted at in the trailer have me wanting to see it in the theater.

The Last Airbender (7/7/2010)-
I admit that I really have no idea what this film is about but judging by the trailer for the movie, it looks like it could be an incredible fantasy experience in the theater. I'm not sure it will match up to Avatar's stunning graphics but I believe it will come close. View the trailer here and let me know what you think.

The A Team movie might be fair. I love Liam Neeson.

My son wants to see the A-team, but I'm leery. I'll miss the original actors :(

We saw the trailer for The Last Airbender a couple of weeks ago and it does look interesting. I can't wait for toy story 3....I know who's an adult??

Why did I think the Last Airbender was already out? Maybe it's cause I saw it on the news so often. I am purposely missing the A-team. You can't replace the old cast.

I'll probably wait to rent most of these. I don't see many films in the theater anymore. I WILL see "Eclipse" in the theater, though. What is it with me and vampires? I don't know! :)

I just wait for any of them to come to DVD.
