Summer Pi (e)

With summer's high
Sun,
I wake each morning
Gladly
Meeting the day with smiles,
Guaranteed to dissipate in winter's dim lack of light.
A Leo,
Born to lounge in the sun,
Stretches in bliss during summer.
Roses smell sweet
During celebrations of Summer Solstice;
Children's laughter mingle with a robin's sweet song,
While I bask in rays so bright, they sting,
Eyes closing to dreams of dragonfly wings,
Knowing that the harvest will soon be upon us---
But not now.

    I know my Leo would love to lounge in the sun; but, the remembrance of her skin cancer episode militates against it. Too bad.
