This year summer is very severe and temperatures raising up to 50 degrees, therefore I have following summer refreshing drinks, which shall give you refreshment as well as cooling effects. In India we do have curd or Yoghurt every day in our diet. I shall write some of the popular refreshments that can be prepared at home with Yoghurt as its main ingredient. I am sure my readers will be benefited by my recipes.

Summer Yogurt south Indian Refreshment
South Indian's like to have bit sour taste and also bit chilly. So the basic ingredient is Yoghurt to make a summer refreshment drink. Take one full glass of Yoghurt, put it into a mixer with one hand full ice, salt to taste and two green chilly cut into fine pieces, few curry leaves & a small ginger. Run the mixer in full speed for two minutes. Pour the diluted yoghurt in two glass and drink. Some times you can add bit of curry leaves in the mixture before serving. It gives cool and refreshing when you come from summer heat.

In summer as a free refreshing drink to help the travellers , large pots of the above drink are kept in on the road side and given to the needy, this is a common practice in south India as a goodwill gesture for the service to the God.

Summer Yoghurt refreshment drinks at Eastern India
In eastern part of India, people like to have sweet taste rather than sour taste of Yoghurt. So as per their taste, their summer refreshment drink is also prepared in keeping their taste buds.

For this Summer refreshment the main ingredient is yoghurt, four to five spoons of sugar, five to six red cherries, five to seven cashew nuts cut into small peices, half cup rabdi ( prepared from milk) one spoon of Bournvita( for taste) , two handful ice cubes.

First put the yoghurt and ice cubes and the sugar into mixer and stir for two minutes in full speed, till the ice cubes have finely mixed with yoghurt. Pour the mixture in glass, put the rabdi in the top, put some cashew nuts and red cherries pieces and top of all put half spoon of Bournvita.

Enjoy the refreshing drink with friends and family members; it helps you refresh yourself as well as get rid of summer heat.

Summer Yoghurt refreshment drinks at North India
People of north India have large appetite and big heart; they too like Yoghurt as a refreshing drink called lassi. You can prepare this summer refreshment Lassi with following ingredients. Take three to four glass of Yoghurt, five to seven spoons of sugar (for taste) few drops of rose extract, three hand full ice cubes, four to five spoons of butter or cheese.

Add the yoghurt, sugar and ice cubes in mixer for four to five minutes, till the yoghurt is properly diluted. Pour few drops of rose extract in the mixture and stir once. Pour the mixture in big tumblers and just before serving put two spoons of cheese or butter for taste.

Summer Yoghurt refreshment drinks
I love to have Yoghurt as butter milk, as a health drink, as well as summer refreshing drink. Mix the Yoghurt well till the butter is skimmed out of it. Dilute it with fresh water, add few cubes of ice, salt to taste, few drops of fresh lime for taste. It can be taken along with breakfast or as a refreshing drink.

When you skim the butter out the butter milk becomes fat free and you get a slight salt taste, it also acts as a health drink. You can consume it after a work out too.

Therefore Yoghurt or butter milk is called a wonder diet. Yoghurt contains probiotic bacteria which act as antimicrobial agent which produces organic acids and other antibacterial agents which help in growth of Staphylococcus, Yersinia, Salmonella and Clostridia. Thus helps in preventing intestinal infection. Dilute and skim yoghurt and fill in large glass along with breakfast or lunch helps in reduce the intake. Yoghurt will help you to look slim and smart.

I recommend all my viewers to prepare the above summer refreshing drinks and stay fit and beat the summer heat.

These drinks sound really good. I especially love Iced Green Tea with Fresh Lime when the weather is hot. For me it has to be about the most refreshing drink I have ever had. Yoghurt is very cooling though, great in the summer.
