Summer Road Trip Tips

A road trip is a great way to bond with your passengers. They may be your parents, your children, your spouse, your business partners, or your friends. While road trips can be fun, they should also be taken seriously. The more time you spend on the road, the more danger you put yourself and your passengers in. Here are some tips for a safe and fun road trip this summer.

Wear Sunglasses on a Road Trip
Driving can be wearing on the eyes. Not only does the sun encourage squinting and fatigue, but the extra air ventilation in the car can dry out your eyes. Sunglasses protect your eyes from this airflow and from the sun. The better shape your eyes are in, the longer you will be able to drive without getting drowsy.

Servicing Car Before Road Trip
One of the most important preparations you should make before a road trip is to service your car. Make sure you do this about two weeks before your journey. This ensures you have plenty of time to have your own mechanic fix any needed repairs. There is nothing worse than being stuck on the side of a road with engine trouble when you are 200 miles from home. Don't let car trouble ruin your road trip.

Proper Road Trip Position
Since you will be seated for a long time on a road trip, make sure you seat is in the right position. It is best to have your seat far enough away that your knees are only slightly bent to reach the petals. This reduces any stress on the knee joint and the back muscles. Also, if your car doesn't not have lumbar support, roll up a towel and put it behind the small of your back. This relieves a lot of back pain on a road trip.

Road Trip Entertainment
Now a days, there are vehicles that comes equipped with DVD players. This way your passengers can enjoy movies and television shows from the comfort of your back seat. However, if your car is older, you will not have this feature. Another entertainment option on a road trip is a book on cassette/CD. Not only do these stories keep passengers entertained, but they also keep the driver awake and alert.

Road trips can be a lot of fun. However, in order to have fun, you must be prepared. Make sure you prepare your mind, vehicle, body, and entertainment before venturing out on your road trip.
