Summer Sanders Channels Her Inner Sinbad While Strawberry Gets Benched in Celebrity Apprentice

This week's Celebrity Apprentice continued what has so far been one of the more interesting seasons of Donald Trump's successful reality TV series. Bolstered by some colorful characters and personalities, it's been fun seeing the conflicts generated by the large egos on display this time around, and yesterday's episode continued the trend.

Tasked with creating an advertisement spread or photo "advertorial" for a company selling a security software bundle, we were treated to two styles of leadership which covered opposite ends of the spectrum. Olympic athletes coincidentally ended up as the choices to lead each respective team as Michael Johnson seemed to lead team "Rock Solid" with some of the most focused and decisive decision-making seen so far, while Summer Sanders apparently didn't take any lessons to heart from the firing of Sinbad last week, demonstrating a leadership style which could be characterized as "messy" at best.

Cindy Lauper's usual "out there" personality rubbed Summer the wrong way, and while Summer chose Selita to be the art director of the project, it was surprising to see a miffed Cindy find an ally in WWE alum Maria Kanellis. It seems Cindy doesn't get much respect from the other women on her team, and while Lauper's 80s stardom certainly deserves a nod, it's not difficult to imagine that Cindy's slightly odd nature could wear a bit thin in person. Just ask Holly Robinson Peete, who's become somewhat of a nemesis to Cindy throughout the season thus far.

Despite some of the chaos of Summer's leadership style, who at one point has to be told point-blank by the photographer that she's not being clear enough, and Sharon Osbourne's continuing battle with a cough, which almost ruins their critical power point demonstration, it's hard to disagree with their victory this episode. The use of Sharon Osbourne, who has arguably become something of a pop-icon in her own right (a difficult feat when you're married to Ozzy Osbourne), was extremely clever to say the least. Meanwhile, Michael's firm leadership may have seemed like the antidote to Sinbad's fuzziness from last week, but he proved to be a little too firm when he decided to go with a truly yawn-worthy advertising spread.

One of the high points of the episode is definitely Rod Blagojevich's naked technological illiteracy as he makes a futile effort to...turn on and use a computer! It's no wonder Michael later singles out the former Governor when it comes time to face the music in the board room. I'll admit, it was tough watching baseball great Darryl Strawberry, who seemed distracted and lackadaisical, essentially volunteer to walk the plank and make Trump's decision an easy one. Here's hoping the men take their recent defeats to heart and learn something from their mistakes...just don't let Blago near a computer again!
