The Jimmy Lane Surf Academy is run by professional surfer Jimmy Lane, who was ranked one of the top fifty surfers in the world. He is also a certified lifeguard. The website has some good information for parents in regard to children's programs. Classes are taught at the Crawford Street Beach Ramp. Miscellaneous and additional Surfing Lesson Resources for both Adults and Children:
Founded by professional legendary surfer Charley Baldwin, and a New Smyrna Beach/Flagler Avenue fixture for over twenty years, this is the place where both visitors and locals can get their surf gear, and they give lessons as well, though you may need to call ahead to see if they accept children for summer classes.
Also located on Flagler Avenue, beachside. Hard to miss red building amongst the proper southern Victorians lining Flagler Avenue. Close to the draw bridge, once one crosses over it from the mainland on the right. From beachside, it is on the left before the bridge. Check out their website. They sponsor events and have a plethora of information at their site.
In New Smyrna Beach since 1974. Surfing lessons for beginners. Check out website and call to inquire about youth programs. They have a very informative website that also provides tips on how to prevent shark attacks! Did I also mention that New Smyrna Beach is shark capitol of the world?
