Summer Surf Camp for Children in New Smyrna Beach, Florida

Something Unique to Do This Summer

Linda Stamberger
New Smyrna Beach Florida is the surf capitol of the world. They take surfing seriously in these parts; with many champion surfers out of this American locale alone, enough to rival the California hang-ten crowd. Many champion surfers from the New Smyrna Beach area continue their love affair with the sublime waves by returning to the beach as teacher, after riding the waves to glory. One such surfer is Jimmy Lane, who runs the Jimmy Lane Surf Academy in New Smyrna Beach and gives lessons at his surf camp. Lessons are generally held at the Crawford Street Beach Ramp section of the beach.

Surfing teachers impart their skills and expert knowledge that they gleamed through years of practice and talent for riding the various waves; distinct names that only the novice surfer knows, such as "rifles" or "tubes." Call it kismet, call it technique, these surfers who teach have one thing in common: a love for New Smyrna Beach and the ocean. Who better to teach you or your own budding little surfer?

There are varied interesting summer programs for youths and even adults who want to learn how to surf, taught by these world class instructors in New Smyrna Beach. Here are various local surf-related websites to check out.
