Summer Swimwear Trends Revealed

Summer is here and the sun is scorching. With dozens of swanky pool parties to attend on the weekend, the swimsuit is no longer a mere piece of Lycra designed solely for swimming. In fact, who actually gets in the water these days if not just to cool off for a minute or two after the sun has taken its toll on you. Swimsuits are just as important as the outfit you put on when you walk out your door and into the critical public. And accessioning your outfit is no longer an option but an absolute necessity.

This season some of the hottest swimsuits aren't even made for tanning. (Unless you want tan lines in haywire direction) They're sexy and bold and designed to make a fashionable statement. They are one shoulder bikinis and cut-away monokinis. One shoulders made their debut on the Runways of Victoria's Secret, Max Azria and even Gucci back in summer of 2008. This trendy suit is most flattering for flat chested ladies as it distracts the attention away from the chest and on to sexy shoulders and back.

Deep neck lines and straps that reflect bondage are features of the cut-away swimsuit that has made it the most popular piece on the beach. Aside from runway influences by Dsquared2 and Herve Lerge, celebrities have also put this suit in the spotlight, seen on the likes of Lindsey Lohan and Megan Fox, just to name a few.

Cover ups, aren't taken by their literal name this summer as covering down is really what's intended. Short off-the shoulder caftans in floral and paisley as well as sheer chiffons are the best outerwear to compliment your bikini. Forget earrings, as it's all about chunky necklaces and big bangles for the poolside. Headwear is the biggest accessory of all, as scarfs and hippie headbands are all inspired by the bohemian trend.

Now grab your cutest bag and your aviator glasses and head straight to the resort... and don't forget to pack your sky-high heels.
