Summer Time Brings Fond Childhood Memories
I hope you enjoy it, or at the very least, I hope it brings back some childhood memories for you!
Summer time brings fond memories of my childhood
Nothing like pure freedom, and carefree wild abandon
Visions of the old swimming hole
And riding bikes all day
Playing outside until dark
Catching fireflies, and watching them in glass jars
Running through sprinklers, drinking from the garden hose
Sparklers and smoke bombs
Mosquitoes, OFF! and sunscreen
Juicy watermelon, and ice cream cones dripping down our hands
Bubble gum and jungle-gyms
Daisys and buttercups , honeysuckle and rhubarb
Childhood songs, and simple games --
"I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee,
Won't my mommy be so proud of me!
I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee,
Ouch! It stung me!
I'm squishing up a baby bumblebee -- "
A love of the simplicity of things washes over me
Where have these feelings gone?
Not too far, I hope.
