Saving and Spending in Las Vegas

Looking for a cheap vacation spot? Why not consider Las Vegas? Visiting Las Vegas on a budget doesn't mean that you can't have fun in Sin City - check out these travel guide tips to make your summer travel a fun and economical trip!

First, search out travel deals either using your local travel agent or the online booking sites. Mid-week visits of two or three days are often the cheapest time to visit Las Vegas as the hotels are usually much busier on the weekend. My mother and I found a great deal for two days and three nights in a major hotel on the Strip with air fare in the middle of the week for less than it would have cost us for a single day on a Saturday or a Sunday! Air fares will also be cheaper if you fly during off-business hours as well! But remember to stay hydrated with lots of water - going to Las Vegas during the summer months is a sure way to get a good sun tan! Keeping a large bottle of water with you can be a lifesaver!

Next, try to get a hotel off of the main Strip. Many travel guides will note that prices can be as much as half-off if you go even a few blocks away from the large hotels and stay at the smaller ones. Usually these hotels run shuttles back to the Strip so you will not be sacrificing any time seeing the sights and will be saving money! When visiting Las Vegas on a budget every dollar counts, so why pay extra for a hotel room you are not going to be spending much time in?

There are plenty of free activities in Las Vegas that will entertain and enthrall you - check out the Pirate Ships at Treasure Island; the famous light show at Fremont Street and the Volcano at the Mirage! As well, just walking through the casinos can provide you with plenty of entertainment such as the costumed actors at Caesar's or the men from Thunder Down Under posing for photographs at the Excalibur. My mother and I loved watching the free exhibits and had a good time without breaking our budget!

Eating in Las Vegas does not have to be an expensive affair. Sure, you can head for the fancy restaurants but there are also cheap alternatives such as the major fast-food chains along with small restaurants that would appreciate your patronage along with keeping the prices low. Check out the buffets at many hotels and see what appeals to you the most - but take a tip from an experienced traveler and do not count on purchasing food or snacks from the many convenience stores located inside the hotel - they tend to be overpriced! Pick up a large bottle of water and refill smaller bottles to take with you on outings to save money and avoid wasting money paying more from a vendor!

Going to Las Vegas on a budget does not mean that you cannot have fun - take some of these tips along with you the next time you start planning your trip and maybe you will be one of the lucky ones who comes back from Las Vegas with more money than you went with!
