Puerto Rico is where the easygoing Caribbean collides with modern America. Since Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States, it's very modern and safe. The island is a colorful, diverse and culturally unique island that is very different from what you will see in the United States.
When traveling to Puerto Rico, you will not have to worry about the fuss of getting a passport ready since it is part of the United States! It is the perfect trip for frugal traveler! You will save on airfare, yet embark on a vacation that will give you an entirely different experience than you will encounter in the mainland United States!
Since the island is relatively small, it will make it easier to plan the transportation aspect of the trip since you won't have to travel much to see everything you desire to see!
Here are some tips you can use to plan your budget-friendly vacation to Puerto Rico!
- Rincon: This is for the surfer. It is very inexpensive to rent a surf board in Puerto Rico, and costs very little of anything to gain access to these beaches. You can spend an entire day on the shores and catch everything you need to - a beautiful view, a sunbathe, and an adventurous experience of a lifetime!
- Jayuya: Another beautiful location. It is actually an isolated mountain town, but it doesn't require much money to enjoy this place.
- Boqueron: This is perfect for the guys! It entails a day of fishing (cheap!) and ends with a night of partying! This town oozes tons of fun, but won't cost you much! I loved this town since it let my friend group enjoy a day of silence from our busy jobs, and allowed us to catch up on lost times. The nightlife at this town is unmatched in Puerto Rico - so give it a shot!
- Stay at a low-cost hotel. Believe me; you don't need an expensive place to enjoy Puerto Rico. The beauty is outside the walls of your hotel - not within!
- Eat smaller restaurants. Not only will you save money, but you will get a better experience of the local culture. Win-win!
- Remember, the best things you can do at Puerto Rico actually cost very little or are free! Don't fall for these gimmick tours - you can experience Puerto Rico at its fullest at no additional costs!
What I love best of Puerto Rico is the fact that it's very similar to the Unites States, but entirely different at the same time. You'll see all the benefits of our level of security, but will be feel like you just entered a country on the other side of the world!
